My Dad could find pipelines or buried pipe.. must have skipped a generation, because the first time I find pipe is usually when the backhoe makes that 'clink' sound.

Fan clutch mod - the thermostatic clutch fan on these trucks is famous for engaging too late to do much good... if yours isn't kicking in enough to do the job, you should replace it with a tuned severe-duty fan clutch, but here's a DIY mod that just might work for you... try this one first...

Does your TCC (Torque Converter Lock) behave normally when driving? Does this 'bang' happen at a particular RPM?

Yeah. Lol. I'm pretty sure obd2 will run with the wrong one, I'm just not so sure it will run without one... the Doc would know, but he's smarter than me
I think it's a 99 ... the OBDII should relearn, but I've seen the need to do that on more than one occasion. If the new PMD has no resistor at all, it can cause issues
I just thought of something... did you take the resistor out of the old PMD and put it into the new one when you switched them out? It's an insert that fits into the plug part of the PMD. The thing SHOULD relearn on its own, but...
Agree with Will about the tubing. You can also spray some contact cleaner into that connector and let that shine it up a bit. What does the other end look like?
Replacing the IP is a big, expensive job... last resort stuff. There are lots of cheap steps before that, and all those things...
