At this point, I've got several options I'm contemplating. Keep searching for, god forbid, a block that isn't cracked (unicorn I'm starting to think). Risk it on the BMI block. Throw in a block I know at least runs and go until it explodes. Or throw in the running block and sell the truck with...
well, 599 is F'd too. So lookin like a new block. I checked in with Teds, and a 6.5L Optimizer will run $3500 including freight. So ah, yeah, anybody got any leads on any Optimizer for cheaper?
I've been thinking a lot lately, and honestly, I'm just the kind of guy that needs to know what I have, from bottom to top. I am going to a 100% fresh rebuild, but now as it is my project, as I have another daily drivers, I am going to swing for the fences on a brand new Optimizer...
So scrolling thru ebay and found this on a 506 Optimizer block for sale, same as the Optimizer I had. Notice anything familiar? Literally identical damage. Makes me wonder
I got two extra blocks from before aside from my 599. There are absolutely so valley markings on them, leading me to believe they are chinese blocks. Can someone help me identify these other two blocks. One block has the numbers 12555506 stamped behind the drivers head in the block, but has F14...
Actually Husker65, crank failure was not an issue at all, crank held strong with no problems. I just updated my carnage thread accordingly to reflect my thoughts, so as not to complicate this thread
So upon initial inspection of the injectors, all looked good expect #8 (broken cylinder). Looking at the injectors, it almost appears as if a chunk of metal is missing right next to the pintle. I'm going to send them to a shop and have them tested and inspected, but just initial inspection leads...
It's a DB-4911 pump pushing a bit over 100cc and my pump guy added a torque screw to the housing as well and messed with the governor and some other linkage a bit so I can adjust my fuel rate externally instead of going through the pump internally.
So this is the plan I'm leaning towards. Pending good inspection of the 599 block, I am going to re-ring and bearing it. Girdle the bottom end and studs where I can, thicker gaskets to drop compression a touch and stick with my T-cups. I am going to replace the heads with some import ones (if...
at this point, i am kind of in a "**** it" mood regarding the build. Since it's not my daily anymore, it opens up a lot of possibilities. I am not sure if I wanna go for a big power build still or go for just straight up unique build thats plain fun to drive and dick around in
To be completely honest, one options I am really very well considering is buying a set of centermount heads so I can run the centermount intakes to clear my inline pump and going that route
