The nozzles are longer for the long body. I experimented with them for a while with mercedes nozzles . You have lots of nozzle options for the long body . Short body just 2 or 3 options.
I built a 2002 5.3 for my S10. I used the stock heads, unported. I did upgrade the cam and valves springs. It runs pretty good ,ran 11.98 @ 114 mph, with terrible 60 ft.
Don't recall it starting hard, but lacked power ,and smoked pitch black. It had a soft hollow knocking sound ,instead of the normal clatter . Was running an unmodified ip at the time ,just turned up. Might have worked better with one of my modified pumps .
One time I cut the precups so they just became headgasket holders. The injectors sprayed directly on to the piston tops. I drove it for a few days ,but it had very little power.
I have my cooler ports ,and filter bypass plugged ,and run the filter only. There's a cup plug in the oil filter base that must be removed if you block the cooler ports . There is also another bypass under the cup plug that is for the cooler . I removed my cooler and dual filters ,because it...
I think the nozzles are .040,they are all the same . I also discovered Ford rotors are not the same as Chevy. The injection hole is offset backwards . Although some rotors have no offset, usually ag pumps and 4 plungers ,and can spin either way . High pop pressure does restrict fuel ,but it...
It goes in the hole in the governor spring holder . The same hole that the pin / guide fits in. It is there for the last stage in governing ,3600-4000 rpm , depending where you set the guide nut.
Took my latest 2 plunger apart, and installed one of my better cam rings ,and a 4500 rpm gov spring . Runs pretty good,30 psi boost, with a H1C -18 cm housing ,and has been starting hot so far. Same pump wouldn't start hot before modded.
I've had,it happen a few times. To prevent it from happening,I drilled a .040 hole in the plug ,were the filter bypass used to be. I'm also running a Wix oil filter for a Duramax, so the bypass is in the filter instead.
The small ones have a softer clatter, the big ones more of a knocking sound. I'm running the small ones currently, they work just fine,if not better than the big ones.
Got it up and running again. Ditched the ag governor and installed the db4 cam pin . Runs great when cold, but hot it surges a little at high rpms. It starts hot ,but barely . 3500 pop psi is too much for three pumps in a row now . One was a bone stock military take out , fuel screw turned...
