So from what I understand, to run a 6 speed trans as a standalone, I need an A40 TCM & wiring harness? Anything else? Will it need a custom tune? The 12v cummins has a TPS on the injection pump already so hopefully I can make that work. I was really hoping to use my BW 4401 T-case with the...
Idk if they are. I'm going to call Allison tomorrow & see what they say. Cuz if they are, then I think I'm set. I think with the $1100 savings difference, I can possibly find the 4wd parts & maybe even rebuild it. Going to call a few different transmission rebuilds around here & see about...
I wonder how hard that would be to find. The cheapest sae 3 housing I can find is around $200. So the cost of a 6 speed around $1500 plus the bellhousing puts me at $1700. Whereas this one is $600, that gives me an $1100 buffer to find the parts to make it 4wd. If that's all I have to change, I...
Here's why I was wondering if it does or doesnt have a park pawl. Hopefully these screenshots are good & clear for ya'll.
On the second page it says the 2200 series have a parking pawl? If it has one, I think I might go pick it up. He said he would let it go for $600. Can't really beat that...
Oh ok. So this 2200 pts sounds like it's what I need. Online says theres no pto on these? Which is ok. I can live without it. Would have been cool to mount an air pump on it & have on board air tho.
Either way, I still have some questions:
1) how do I verify if this trans has a park pawl or...
Ok. So theres a guy local to me selling an allison 2200 pts. Looking at the specs online, they all look identical to a 1000. He said that it was in a bus which had a duramax in it? Doesnt make much sense to me since it has a sae#3 adapter on it, but I dont know the medium duty stuff so he could...
Is the allison out of those the same model? Those are more work trucks & towing vehicles over go fast pigs right? If they are different models, can they be modified to hold good power? I'll definitely look into getting one out of those trucks tho
Alright guys. This question stems from my 96 chevy k3500 12v cummins swap. Right now I'm running a 4l80e behind it & its handling it, but I'm prepping for the future. I want to swap a 6 speed ally in it.
Looking online, I found a company called Howard's conversions that will allow me to adapt...
Hey guys. So not sure if I mentioned it, I finally got the dash tach to work. I was messing with the dakota digital unit for ages & finally said screw it. Hooked the tach in signal for the gauge directly to the cummins w terminal & it's working! Does anyone know if this will provide accurate...
I just noticed this. I was rereading the posts. My truck is doing the same. I haven't tried jumping power from the battery to the regulator tho. So you're thinking of running an ignition relay to trigger straight battery power to the regulator? Please let me know how this works out!
Ok I will try that. It's just weird how the alternator case is grounded directly to the battery & the regulator is as well. I thought this would be better. Maybe due to this, the regulator isn't completing its circuit as it's just returning straight to the battery? I will report back with my...
I had the alternator tested, it's good. The voltage regulator is reading according to the video FellowTraveller posted. I guess that just leaves my wiring. Could it be possible that the two small wires on the alt need to be swapped? Otherwise I wired it up according to how everyone specifies.
Ok. So I got a new denso alternator & the heavy duty voltage regulator. The truck lights are all flickering & very bright. It's at 15 volts after start, then drops to 13-14 when running. Headlights, instrument cluster, etc. All kinda flicker or pulse I guess is a better word. Ideas? Usually when...
I appreciate ya'lls feedback. I did rectify the situation. I spoke with the owner who is a very nice guy. I told him my situation, apologized, told him everything. He goes "oh, ok. Well, you wanna come check it out, it looks really good?!"
Made me laugh. Dude was super nice. I will definitely...
Hey guys. So I'm having trouble getting the the tachometer to work on my 96 chevy k3500 that I just swapped a 12v cummins into. The truck was originally a 6.5 diesel.
The dakota digital unit is supposed to read the crank position sensor off the cummins & feed the engine rpm to the trans...
I haven't actually paid for it yet. Between flight school, this project, the Air Force, & the move, I just don't have the money right now to pay that. Didn't expect it to be anything more than $500. Not sure what I'm gonna tell the shop. My commander is friends with the owner of the shop as...
Correct. If I remember correctly, you decided to run the dodge transmission (47, 48 something re,rh, I cant remember). I chose to run the 4l80e due to not being able to fabricate at this time. Eventually I want to swap an allison in, but that's in the future.
The 4l80e adapter plate locates...
Ok so I read it in your thread! Yeah, that's the part number I got from diamond eye. It was for a 89 to 93 cummins, 2wd, 4" downpipe. I could not get it to align. I had to cut the 90 degree turbo elbow or start of the downpipe off, just to bolt it to the turbo. But it was wedged into the...
Hey guys. Some of ya'll know how big projects end up costing big money. My 96 k3500 has been getting a 12v cummins heart transplant. Unfortunately, I can't weld. So I took the truck to a good reputable exhaust shop. It had to be done. I can't just dump smoke onto the firewall.
Well, here I...
