I'm hoping to be making 10 to 12 psi at the very most so I think that the j-code precups will be alright. They are some bigger than the c-code precups that these turbos were made for. Mind you that I'm only after economy, the turbo is only to help in the mountains and to give me a little more...
Alright, so help me out here. I've got a 1989 J-code motor out of a 1-ton with an ATS turbo setup on it. The turbo has a .96 A/R turbine housing on it. I'm putting this in a 1984 Chevy 4x4 1/2 ton pickup that is a gasser now. The truck has 4.56 gears with true 35" tires and a 700R4 transmission...
Explain to me why these torque converters are better. I'm very familiar with engines and transmissions but torque converters have always been a mystery to me.
Does anyone have an intake plenum for an old ATS turbo setup? Also is there someone out there that has any ATS literature, like instruction sheets or manuals?
Not in any way trying to argue, but everybody says that it's going to be a laggy pig because it's so big. I've seen others suggest something in the .80 A/R range. I'm trying to learn all this turbo stuff, so any and all information is appreciated.
By the way the compressor wheel is a 55mm/70mm...
I'm looking for a cruise cable bracket that went on a late 6.2 or a early 6.5 with a mechanical IP in a GMT 400 style truck. I have attached a picture of one. If anyone has one that they would sell please let me know.
