GJF is on his game, I agree with everything he has stated 100%.
Also keep in mind, offset grinding the crank is also an option, -that COULD yield another .010" -if needed.
Again, not a first choice, -but still a viable option.
In my opinion, -a 19:1 motor will still open a huge door...
Yep, I go up that hill every day on the way in to work, -and it is a steep one, I can vouch for that.
Isn't defuel supposed to happen at something like 280F?
Dang, it's a sad day, no more Mahle 18:1's, -what a suck that is.
Hey Chicago, -weren't those 18:1's you used to have a few years back Zollners?
Is Zollner still making pistons? -Or have they gone by the wayside too?
Well, -not that it would be a first choice, but you could always run the...
The diamond eye is the setup I have too.
The downpipe is NICE, -and the rest of the setup is truly slip-clamp, -and it fits excellent.
I opted to mig my 4" glasspack in place, -just because it didn't match up to the pipe diameter real well, -and I didn't want to just clamp it and smash...
Yeah, -something along the lines of...........
Hello, I want to thank all of you for welcoming me to the "support" group. My name is Rich, -and I have three 6.5's, -and only one isn't broken.
Meant in good taste of course! ):h
I'm just a PO-BOY who can't afford a duramax payment. Plus, I...
Like I said before, -if it wasn't for the fact I had the NV4500, I would have probably stayed with the DS.
However, it is waaaay cool that there is only ONE little wire to run the DB, -and the fact that it always starts with a BUMP of the key.
Have I mentioned lately how much I like it? :D...
Ok, now I'm really getting worried about my DB2. I think I'm going to go back to a DS4 as soon as fiscally possible.
NOT!! :D
Time will tell how well my DB works out. It only cost me $480, -so far, so good.
Not trying to stir up a hornets nest, just stating how well I like the DB...
I am not up on the details of dealing with the automatic transmission with the DB IP conversion, however, chevybobgreaser here at DTR has very specific details on making the 4L80E work with a DB.
He is also a very pleasant guy.
Now, Tim, -I know you're just giving me a couple rib jabs...
Aww now c'mon Tim, -it's all in good fun. Sorry I've been hard to get a hold of, -lots on the plate right now.
I like my DB due to its greatly improved smoothness and driveability with my manual trans truck, -ESPECIALLY in stop and go traffic. Whether the DB makes what a DS does is moot to me...
Non Typical, I enjoyed reading your post.
Reminds me of this one time I saw a 6.5 truck on the side of the road. As I drove past, I could see a HUGE plume of black smoke coming out of the pipe, -and the guy literally had the thing up on the limiter (rev-teching it no doubt!).
My first and...
What MGW said......
And, nontypical, -you too. The thing I like the best about my 6.5 truck is that it's paid for, -and no truck payment is GOOOOD.
Plus, -if I didn't have a 6.5, -I wouldn't know all of you fine folks!
The following the 6.5 has is like some sort of disease i...
The love affair with the 6.5 is truly a LOVE/HATE relationship!! ):h
When they are running the way they're supposed to, they do VERY well, -especially considering what they cost.
And, let's not forget what made these things so damned affordable in the first place, -it is because most people...
First of all Jason, I would NEVER be one to question your technical credentials, or discredit your opinion.
Cross bolting is a GREAT idea that WORKS. Unfortunately, it ain't gonna happen for us.
There are MANY different theories about what causes the blocks to crack in the webs, -and...
Nothing was meant to be negative, -it is negative only if it is taken that way.
If having those rails bolted onto the main studs makes you sleep better at night, -and your stuff ain't scattered in the road, -then by all means it was worth it.
I myself, personally, (am a machinist), and won't...
