Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

Yep, I figured that close is within the human error range and should be just fine.

Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

Rechecked tdc, was maybe 1/4 degree off (maybe), so I re adjusted just to make sure. Now it was pretty much as close as it can be with the naked eye. I pulled the dial indicator off and then remounted it just to make sure everything would come out the same with a completely new setup. Set it to...

Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

So I FINALLY got my offset key installed. 111.5 degrees is what I ended up with after installing it. So I think (I hope) I am finally set and can start checking clearances. I am going to recheck tdc and then recheck the icl just to make sure. But I checked the icl at .050" on either side of peak...

Going mechanical with a Moose Omega Marine IP

That's faster than most late 70, 80s and early 90s "muscle" cars lol. It'll beat my dually for sure. Which means I need more fuel![emoji57] Heck of a build though. You've done a nice job on this. You've taken a lot more care and patients building yours than I did on mine and it shows...

Going mechanical with a Moose Omega Marine IP

That is one thing I have always loved about even a stock db2 over any stock or programmed ds4. Throttle response is way better. I've always been a fan of how a db2 response to partial throttle vs the ds4. Glad you're up and running and enjoying it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

That's what I said. They emailed me back after I called them out on it and he told me to call them and they could work with me on the shipping. But by that time I had already ordered from the other place. Which leads me to the next part of this wonderful experience.... Got an email today...

Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

I found two other places that supposedly have them, but the one tried charging me $30 to ship two keys.... So I ordered from the other place. We'll see if they actually had them in stock and how soon I will get them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

Here two links for the two I think might work from summit. One is 2* offset and the other is 4* http://m.summitracing.com/parts/mrg-987g http://m.summitracing.com/parts/mrg-988g

Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

I would assume that also. Considering Chevy used a ton of parts that will work on virtually any gas v8 of their's, especially small block to small block and big block to big block, I would assume a 6.5 is no different. The only thing I have noticed in looking for a key is that there were two...

Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

Yes, summit is showing sometime in June. However, it's come to my attention that all of the keys I have looked at all show that they do not fit a 6.5. I am wondering if that is simply bc it's not common so they don't have it listed as a compatible engine, or if it really takes one that no one...

Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

At this rate it will probably never be put in the truck. Jegs stated that the key I am waiting on would be shipped out over a week ago. It never shipped. I called Monday and they just emailed me back today. Of course, the key is on back order and the new expected shipping date is May 5th. So I...

Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

Here is tdc. Verified by the degree wheel and the dial indicator. Hard to tell if it actually sticks out of the block, but it is close enough that I can't tell by looking at it or feeling it. Putting a straight edge on it indicates that it is almost exactly the same height as the block, maybe...

Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

The first picture is just showing the dial indicator set to zero at zero cam lift. The dial indicator is sitting on the intake lifter. Piston position is irrelevant for that picture. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

There is no picture of tdc. At tdc the piston actually looks like it sticks out of the block. Whether it actually does or not, I don't know, I didn't measure it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

Never mind, I just realized that they are meant to go in the dowel hole to offset the dowel pin. But I don't have a dowel pin, the cam is keyed like the crank. Just has one center hole where it slides over the cam and the bolt goes on there (hence thinking the bushing would have to go between...

Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

I saw the bushings too. They are cheaper than the key, but I'm not exactly sure how they work? They all say you just have to drill a hole. When I think of a bushing, I think of it sliding over the cam and under the cam gear. But that won't work without machining the cam gear. So I'm assuming...

Rebuild for a performance oriented 6.5

Talked with R&D, I did the correct procedure for it so I should be good. Downside; no one has offset keys in stock. Summit is showing end of April as the estimated date that they would get one.... So, anyone know of any place that has any, or anyone have any themselves that they want to sell...
