I helped my kid put 6" miter cut stacks on his f350 w/ 6.0 about a month ago. Surprisingly, its very quiet w/o muffler anymore. The turbo whistle is REALLY prominent now. The wife says its a piss truck now, cause it sounds like the truck is pissing all the time LOL.
I have a short video (10...
If the spring is the thing (sorry), they make different tensions and whatevers, so that should be relatively easy. Maybe a setup like racedays waste gate threaded rod thing (drawing a TOTAL blank on the name - sorry) that way you could tighten or loosen for the desired psi number.
Sorry bout the confusion Ferm, you're absolutely correct. Valve size is meaningless if the rest of the runners aren't wide open as well. Both in the head AND intake manifold. And the exhaust side of the equation isn't being overlooked either. A lot of little pieces here and there add up to a...
IIRC, and I think I do, didn't Bill Heath use 6.2 valves because they are larger? I would have to think that if we're going for every last little bit, then the larger diameter valves, with a 3 angle valve job in addition to porting and polishing, or if funds allowed, extrude honing the runners...
Just thinking out loud here, but wouldn't this allow us to utilize even larger turbos, kinda like what 6.2 uses? (Sorry, can't remember if was an hx 55, or something else)
I got a good review on them from turbine doc several years ago, but that was several years ago. Don't want to say too much if our conversation wasn't meant for all. Plus things may have changed as of late.
Yeah, that's what he told me, better lubrication. And it was faster to do, quicker turn around time. I just wasn't sure if it was really the best/right option.
Ok, here's a question about valve guides. Would it be better to have the old one drilled out and a new one pressed in? Or ream out the existing bore and knurl it (or did I get that backwards - knurl then ream) either way, my former bro-in-law did it both ways, just not sure which is better for us.
I would think that using the old valve springs wouldn't be the best thing ever. I would opt for brand new ones.
Anybody know if there are aftermarket ones available for us?
Well as long as were talking 'ideas' here, have you looked at cryogenics? An engine builder in NY for hot rod semi's (cummin's and cat's in the 1000 to 1500 HP range) IIRC its called great lakes diesel. The builder deep freezes certain parts to do something to the molecular structure of the...
Cumminsfever, is your hood a stocker? Think with a cowl hood you could pick up enough room to do a different turbo, or just give yourself a little more space?
Call me stupid, but what would that be?
Capt obvious here, but the walbro is obviously the best choice, but is that airtex any better than stock? (me likes cheap)
And I bet he's bent more connecting rods than you too. Go back several pages and look up some of the stuff he's done. I really don't think he's pullin one over on you. Just sayin.
