Two things come to mind if you want to wake it up some. First would porting/polishing and gasket matching. This will enlarge the passages to improove air flow. The second is alot more involved. Deck the block. If you shave a thousands off the block it will increase your compression ratio and...
Hey guys, what do you think of this one. I was talking to one of my co-workers about the cold weather and our fuel and he mentioned that another driver told him that he put acetone in his fuel. Not a lot, but, acetone? They put it in our pumps in winter to keep them from freezing. I haul a...
Pepperidge, where did you get your pistons done? I know swaintech, but do they have multiple shops or do you have to send them in? How much for your pistons, if you don't mind me askin?
Swain Tech. I stumbled across a street racer/ricer forum while looking into ceramics and they seem to think swain tech has the most efficient and durable ceramic coatings. I don't think they look all that hot (no pun intended), so that's why I thought I'd ask you guys.
Yup on corrosion. Now, if you were to start with stainless, have it jet-hot coated, and then wrap it, you'd be out a bunch of money. Seriously, all three steps would have to be beneficial, even if only marginally, but when your goin for that last little bit...
Bt, where do you send your stuff? There was a shop in Carol Stream that did powder coating and ceramic coating, but I think he closed his shop. Well, maybe he moved.
Does anyone have any experience, positive or negative, with ceramic coatings here? Jet-hot, VHT rattle can spray, various private shops, etc... Do they really work as claimed? Are underhood temps really reduced and by how much? Lot, little. Do they hold up to use?
I just remembered something from a few years ago. Bruce Malinson, from Pittsburgh Power (heavy-duty truck stuff, also has a series of articles called 'high performance diesels') did an article a while back about how he used header wrap from the turbo back. Basically, he stated that the hotter...
Just a quick tip on our wonderful lift pumps (or LP's), they are voltage sensitive. Translation, they require a full dose of electricity, so make sure that's its ground is extremely clean or you'll get robbed of fuel to the injection pump (don't ask me how I know, but trust me on this one)
GW, just a quick thought on thermal efficiencies and air flow/volume. 1st, couldn't we have the face (?) of the head ceramic coated, as well as the exhaust runner/bowl area? This should help keep some of the heat out of the head and in the turbo where it belongs. 2nd, didn't Ted 635 (IIRC) have...
Great White, You mentioned we would want a 2-5 Micron filter in the fm. Is that what the typical fram filter from auto parts store might carry? Or would we need to find a different source? Don't mean to put you on the spot if you don't know
