They filed bankruptcy (chapter 11 I think) a while back, about when I was trying to buy a radiator. I was told they shipped all their manufacturing to Mexico. I know at that time, supply was spotty at best. I wish I knew of a good USA made radiator, but I think most these days are made in...
Hard to find a "good" radiator these days. Even the name brands are made in China or Mexico. Never bought one, but Griffin makes some very nice looking stuff - with a price to match.
Sorry, but this is not correct. The Optimizer 6500 AMG blocks do not have a girdle, they are standard 4 bolt main caps.
Here is a picture of the main caps in my AMG block. Its basically an improved GM 6.2/6.5 block
I have had a 6.5 Diesel Suburban for almost 16 years and a 6.2 Sub before that for 4 years. The first 9 years with the 6.5 it had a DS4, the last 7 a DB2. After having both, I would never go back to a DS4. The reliability factor of the DB2 is so much better than the DS4. With a good pump and...
First let me say I'm just going by what I found on my Military surplus GEP engine and talking to others that should know (Peninsular, Diesel Depot, and a rebuilder for the Military). But, I'm not saying its 100% that if you have a standard oil pump you will have square precups. First, lots of...
If you changed the main bearings, the oil squirters will work. The NA main bearings are not drilled for the squirters. The turbo bearings are. I've always wondered about this sort of "savings", not just on 6.5's but all cars. Having to manufacture and stock two sets bearings and oil pumps...
This is the standard oil pump
The hi flow one has a spacer between the cover and body, as it has longer gears.
You probably had a pickup like this one because the Hummer uses a different oil pan.
The truck oil pan requires a different oil pickup.
If it was a Military surplus, they are probably square. The NA engines had square precups and the oil squirters are blocked off, except for 7 & 8. If it was a turbo, then it probably has the diamond precups. If you can pull the oil pan, see if its a standard or high capacity oil pump. If...
If you are undecided, I would install the vented valve cover with some sort of plug. Its much easier to remove a plug than change the valve cover later. The oil fill is no big deal, changing it is a 5 minute job. The valve cover, not so easy.
I'm not sure the Pro Vent would do much for...
I had the oil fill vent on my engine for a while and then went back to the valve cover/CDR setup. I think it really doesn’t matter where you vent the engine from, perhaps the oil tube is the best location, but the valve cover seems to work just as well.
At first, I went with a only a Mann...
That is great news for 4X4 owners. The rear trans speed sensor was a big problem for them, if this trans computer works with the transfer case sensor, then its the way to go. Probably best for any truck with OBDII as well.
Will this computer take the input from the transfer case on 4X4 trucks and adjust the transmission input speed when in low range or does it require a rear speed sensor in the transmission?
BTW, its not that hard to use the GM TCM :hihi:
Forgot to mention one thing. Some (all?) of the factory snap in outlets have a restriction. You might want to check yours.
I made up a brass piece and pressed it in my fitting to match the factory fitting.
Lots of info on this if you do a search. I used an AN fitting, but a nipple and hose clamp work well. The trick is getting the old fitting out of the crossover without breaking the crossover. Some come right out, others are not so easy.
Here is my heater hose with brass AN fitting
One thing I found is there are several different size bearings (front & rear) for the CS 130. On a reman, no telling what you get, plus the bearings probably come from China. You have to go to a good shop and impress on them that you don't want cheap, you want good. As in put in the best you...
