I would encourage you to NOT chase a super quick spool at low rpm. Unless you have lowered compression, it is a great way to lift the heads off of the block. I've done it with a stock gm8.
I'm not anti-EV, but the places that they would seem to be most beneficial (cities) have no way of charging them if everyone has them. How do people living in apartments charge them (can you imagine the cost of installing 240 or 480v chargers at every parking meter, or a parking garage doing...
Mine Optimizer has always sounded pretty much like that. Oil pressure is good, oil usage is less than a quart to 5k miles (amazing with a cdr and a heavy foot). I believe it's a lifter- the longer I drive it and the warmer it gets, the noise goes away.
Engine has no more than 60k miles, as the...
I thinks my gauges on the pillar are having issues! Both of them were along for the ride when I drove into an apple tree. Boost gauge bezel was bent from my hand flying off the wheel. Had to take it apart to rezero it. Pyrometer started getting wonky- usually fixed with a sharp rap. Last time I...
The GM series turbos are said to have about a 9cm (squared) exhaust housing, whereas the standard hx35 has a 12. Also available is a 14cm (what I have). Lower drive pressure at similar boost is the big advantage of the Holset over the factory BorgWarner. Running a gm-1 thru -8 at higher boost...
Transmission and gearing have a lot to do with the turbo that is right for you. A 12cm hx35 will spool immediately with most setups. I can't help you with the whistle. I only hear mine at 3 and 7psi (not loud and very brief). However, ANY turbo with a bigger exhaust housing will reduce drive...
Take a piece of wood and whittle it down so that it fits between the pan bolts and fills the area between them (about 3/4" wide). It must fit inside of the outer pan lip. Lovingly smack it with a 3lb hammer a couple times. Do this while it is still on the transmission. This will flatten your pan...
I've always told myself that age is just a number, but as I near 50, my body is telling me otherwise! Hurts when I get up, hurts when I lay down, and stiff in all the wrong places in between!
Even with studs?! HX55 at 50psi?? :wideyed:
Wow! I mean Ouch!
I destroyed a 6.5 (bent rods) when I had catastrophic head gasket failure, but it didn't do that!
