    P400 tare-down findings

I have a customer's P400 in for checking and rebuilding. Reason for tare down, this motor had a db2 installed and suffered 3 runaways for various reasons, not good putting it mildly ... I had this motor in 35K miles ago for a partial build. The crank was not removed, I only went as far as...

    Electric Fan clutch

I don't think 200* is too hot even sustained, and I prefer to measure that at the rear and control my fan from the rear. As fast as these motors heat up there is more opportunity for temps to get out of hand and cause harm, and a side note, most every head gasket I've seen blown was on the rear...

I guess I got confused, my reply was towards @dbrannon79 about where the temp probe was.

why are you using the crossover? The hottest place is the rear of the motor, by the time the crossover shows high temp the rear is way hotter..

Phosphate will desolve rust, I don't think it will hurt aluminum but check first... And don't leave it in the system very long, it will eat metal if left too long...

Cascade dish washing stuff... Would have been a good idea to test for hydrocarbons before draining, hydrocarbons will cause the coolant to turn very brown.

If your tranny is stock and the shift tables are stock you are asking for a burnt tranny with that load... the converter and shift points in stock form will kill everything.. Not being able to get up to and keep speed points to a weak motor, keep lugging it and you'll burn it up.... As for what...

Your biggest problem is your trying to run too low of rpm's and not having the power to do it and getting nothing out of the heat being created.

Water injection will help, a radiator spray system will help, real hood vents will definitely help... All depends on how much you want to spend and how much water you can carry, I have a 60gl tank just for this....

At what rpm are you running most of the time? If you are attempting to stay in the lower rpm band, say 2400 or less and are having to keep the throttle mashed you are creating a lot of heat, empty or loaded....

I watched your progress on the hummer thread. I went with a hummer fan system in my dually, the hydraulics is tied into the steering system. Anyway, my controller is adjustable for on & off temps and I tied into the original temp sensor in the d/s head, I'll use the p/s head location when I...

    6.5 Turbo issues

Have you checked codes? It sounds like the ecm might be trying to regulate boost and or fuel delivery, the ecm will derate fuel if it sees too much pressure.
