Thanks for the response. Will talk to my dealer and see about reflashing my ECM. May just have to bite the bullet and replace the FPR. The only problem I have with that is no one yet has said that they had this problem and when they replaced the FPR it fixed the problem. Many talk about it...
Well I have gotten the AFE mp and installed it along with converting back to the stock air cleaner. No change in the idle surging problem, still surges, BUT WOW what difference in the "power" and response. Also it looks like I might gain about 1 mile per gallon. Still using the additives but...
By the way has anyone gotten the AFE turbo mouthpiece and is it a true bolt on with no modification to cold air intake? That what is advertised and I found one for $186. The best price from that that I have found is about $225.00 + free shipping and no sales tax. All opinions welcome.
thanks again for all the info and suggestions will be back after I change the stock air cleaner and give you guys an update. Hope it is a good report. LOL
Ok I'll try it but this problem started long after the K&N was installed. Have cleaned it and reoiled it three times using the K&N cleaner and oil. [used very sparingly just until it changed color no more. Oh, yes am thinking about installing the LBZ mouth piece or just modifing the one I...
Basicly stock, K&N cold air package, 4" exh, and Edge module. Also I have tried all the standard fixes with additives [ATF, 2cycle oil, and a multitude of the additives.
Does anyone know if there are any aftermarket FPR's the service writer at my dealership has replaced three on his lly. He said it will stop for awhile and then the problem returns. It is very expensive to replace it with no guarantees for a permanent fix.
Thanks for all the replies. Where do I get the computer reflashed? I have an Edge with Attitude and it does not make a difference where I set the Attitude. If I get it reflashed will that negate the Edge module. I have also disconnected the Edge and That makes no difference either.
I know this is an old topic but I have not seen any solution to this problem that really works. Have tried all the tricks and different additives to no avail, it still surges. Dealer service writer has an '05 lly like mine and he has changed all kinds of parts also to no avail for a sure fix...
Thanks for the welcome. Yes an OLD hot rodder but still having fun. A shame about the "disaster" at the barrett jackson auction yesterday. I would have just sat down and cried if I was a buyer OR seller. Hope there wasn't to much damage.
As far as towing is concerned the difference between 3.73 and 4.10 is not worth talking about. The mileage around town is though. On the highway not much difference either. I pull a 16,000 lb 5th and have topped Raton pass at 70+ mph. from the Colorado side. I have 3.73's in my 2500 HD Not...
WOW sounds like a lot of false advertising to me because the window stickers I saw in '05 all said that there were 4.10's in the 3500 and 3.73's in the 2500. When I ask about the 3.73's in the 3500 my friend that owned the dealership said that they came from factory that way and that he would...
Beg to differ but when I bought mine new from dealer the 3/4 ton 2500HD had 3.73's and the 1 ton 3500 HD had 4.10's this was in '05. I have found that the key to better milage is driving habits. When I am running 58-62 is the best for me. When I get in a hurry [running 80+] I get about 16...
I have the 2005 LT 2500HD those come standard with 3.73 gears and the 3500 came with 4.10 standard from the factory. If you have the 4.10 gears might make the difference. I have just put on a bed caver and it made a difference of about 1.5 mpg. My mileage fluctuates anywhere from 18.5 city...
Thanks for the tip. I am on my first tank and drove about 350 miles to my original dealer to have them replace the speedometer cluster and told him about what I was doing. He has a 2005 LLY and has put in two FPR's in his. He sees no need to replace the FPR as it will be ok for awhile then...
