I have a 97 Chev K1500 that does the same thing. I plumbed a boost gauge into the port where the IAT sensor is located. Don't know if that makes any difference.
Under moderate to heavy load, my K3500 boost pressure bounces around from say 10-13 psi. It just continually goes back and fourth between the two. It really is quite annoying.
What is causing this and what can I do to fix it? I've tried a different PMD to no avail.
I'm only hitting them towing after climbing a grade with a 5th wheel holiday trailer doing 75mph in to a 20mph headwind. No problem if I'm not doing that.
It only climbed that high when I went up short hills and cooled down going down the hills.
It also seemed odd that the fan didn't come on. Just hoping I didn't do any damage!
Just took my 3500 out on it's first trip with the holiday trailer. Temp stayed mostly around 90C, but slowly worked it's way up to 106C now and again.
Is this something to be concerned about? It's still a long way from the red, but seems plenty hot to me.
Found out today that if I wiggle the wires going into the bottom of the key switch, the blower motor would go, but the ABS light was still on and no 4x4. ABS codes are
C0022, C0026, C0037, C0038.
It's a floor shift.
I hope I'm narrowing things down.
I spent most of the afternoon looking for grounds, I found 1 behind the floor courtesy light on the lower/left side of the IP. The manual I have is for a 99 and says there is a ground G202 "on the right side of the instrument panel, mounted to the HVAC plenum bracket.
And G200 "behind the left...
Truck is a 97 Chev 3500 4x4, manual, borg warner transfer case.
Problem was somewhat intermittent, now does it all the time.
If I either turn on the blower motor or pull it into 4x4
ABS light comes on, blower motor stops, and 4x4 won't engage or disengages if it was already on.
These...
Transplanted engine was from a 94 N/A 1500. I just added the turbo to the 'new' engine. I swapped it without removing or changing pump timing. The last engine in the truck got a cracked block. I have not done a TDCO or timing check since the install. Would this help?
The trucks running winter diesel right now. The motor that I've put in it sat for at least a year before I got it. I ran it for probably 1/2 hour before doing the swap. I've dumped in an additive called Diesel Injector Cleaner. I'm not getting any codes, and no smoke on startup.
