My k2500 has 209000 miles on it with the original injectors I was noticing some hesitation when I reved the engine on the highway so I checked the codes by the way it is a 1995 obd1 and it gave these... When I start it up it usually blows out white smoke and then quits after a few puffs. should...
Just found this vid on youtube. Veg oil mod I think but look at the heat exchanger it ust help keep temps down.

I bet you already considered this but could this be an OPSU problem? mine had a similar starting issue I could crank but it just stalled out unless I hit the gas.
Wow! been a while since I checked this post
I finally got around to checking codes and I am getting DTC 36 - Injection Pulse Width Error (Time Long)
at least Ithink I am it flashes 3 times then a pause then flashes 6 more times this goes on and on...
I reset and drove before this...
I added some diesel 911 to it but it really didn't make any difference. I suppose I need to check the fuel lines to be sure whatever is in the tank hasn't spread. I don't want all that gunk in the engine.
I have an old Ford 4000 that wasn't running well and I changed the fuel filters to see if that was the problem. Didn't work then I thought the fuel may have gone bad( how long can diesel fuel sit before gelling??) but when I unpluged the the drain at the bottom of the tank it only dripped out...
I did the dipstick test again this time using a different hose that fit better. The water was sucked up about 2 inches at 2000 rpm's and no bubbles at all... although does this test require the engine to be warmed up? the engine doesn't have significant blowby until it gets hot.
What commpression settings are stock? and can you alter them to make the rings last longer?
I tested the coolant and I think it has more water than antifreeze I think that is what the overheating is from.
But I also noticed alot of white smoke on startup maybe bad injectors...
Well I cleaned the rad out and sprayed the engine. there were alot of bubbles from the hose another thing I forgot to mention was that when I have it running and I open the oil filler tube It sounds like a pot of boiling water only more a metal sound than a water sound... didn't see any oil...
sorry I mean't blowby not sure what I was thinking anyway cdr is good I can blow through both ends. There is alot of oil going thorugh the cdr and leaking out onto the turbo. more than ever actually. I will go get some tubing and test the dipstick but I am going to guess that I will see lots of...
Ok gonna get the cdr valve thanks for the help. I will lube up some of the things you have sugg. I just looked at the turbo and it is covered in oil no wonder I was low on oil and it has been getting hotter and hotter I thing I will take the rad out and clean it as well as take the intake...
yes it was a little low but other than that ok I added some but it is still kid of acting up another thing I forgot to mention was that the steering wheel is vibrating
Problem: Lots of blowback when I start it and it makes a funny grinding sound like its out of oil maybe?

The turbo is good I think. it still whines when it should...
Any tips??
my truck had a bad connection to the starter that made it crank when I had the key in waiting for the glo plugs. make sure wires are all good befoer replacing your starter engine
wow did a mouse get in the turbo? so I checked the ops and then replaced it, problem solved! Thank you for all the help this site is great. If I had taken this to an auto mech that only worked on gas engines then it would have been 700$ for parts at the least. OPSU 23$ had to look for the right...
