What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

You and me both. But I was married at 17. We didn't have money to blow on steering wheels. Even though I worked mostly 50 hour plus weeks. I always wondered how the steering actually went with the small diameter steering wheels a lot of guys used back then. . They came with large diameter...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Back in the day, we used to jack around and switch steering wheels to things kids at the time, thought looked cool. I don't remember much about it

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

I use Klein crimpers of this style for regular spades and such as you pictured. I think Harbor Freight sells a knockoff pair. For the connectors Marty pictured I have a couple similar crimpers to what he showed. And a Wirefy kit with multiple jaws. There's some cheap knockoffs that are...

Same here. Is that the page you go to and it has some spinning wheel discount thing? If so, I have looked at the page a few times and never made it past the spinning wheel to check prices

    My 2005 Yukon XL

You might also want rivet washers on the ends of the rivets. If you can move up to a 10-32 machine screw, I would. For some reason #8 screws cause me grief.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

I've had some seal quality issues the past decade or so. It's really frustrating to swap a seal and then have to do it again.

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

The problem I had with Fluidfilm was lack of longevity. Plain old Marvel Mystery oil out of a squirt bottle seemed to last just as long. I finally found a guy, not too far away that does the undercoating I'm thinking about having him do a car we are thinking about buying, if it's still for...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Looks good. I always used whatever oil of anything I had available. Amsoil Heavy Duty Metal Protector, Marvel, any brand or type of lubricating oil that was handy when I was working on any vehicle. I tried Fluid Film, but I thought the nasty smelling Amsoil held up better

Ds4 fitting for fuel pressure gauge

We need a definitive parts list with links for installing a fuel pressure gauge. Kind of like the Feed the Beast instructions. I have a small pile of parts that I hope has everything I need. If I ever get to work on the truck again

    1968 C10 Power Steering Ideas

My 1968 Camper Special had power steering. I don't remember much about it. I swapped from the 6 cylinder to a 327. It had a granny 4 speed.

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

I was thinking it worked the other way on the 1989. That, if you pulled the plug, it would cycle longer. But that's been since about 1993 or so that I had that issue. Definitely before we had the 1995 Tahoe. At that time it was the only GMT400 diesel we had.

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Seems to.me, I had an issue there on the 1989. That unplugging that sensor told the truck it was cold and let things work right until something was fixed. There's probably a thread about it on.one of the forums. That probably would have been the diesel page back then.

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

I'm not near so kind. Just load test the damn batteries and I will buy them or not. I've only had 2 people balk at load testing before buying. And that was quite a while ago. I think anymore counter people are used to crap parts. They hear about them all day long. Every day

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

If you bend up buying new batteries, have them load tested before buying. New doesn't equal good. I've rejected a lot of batteries. At Rural King, they ended up returning a whole pallet of bad, new batteries. That was one time I forgot to load test before buying. I drove 45 miles home...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Was there a temperature sensor on the passenger side of my 1989 that caused a similar issue? It seems like it went bad or something and caused a similar issue.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

The problem being is, we don't have a clue as to how to go about getting her to the help she needs. I'm guessing she won't be receptive to any urging or advice. We would do what we could to help her. Nobody wants to see her put her kids through what she went through. Or to see her...
