Been there, I agree with him. It's a good time to de-rust and primer/paint too. They're not that heavy when empty, and doing it yourself is less stressful for me anyway. Good luck. Don't forget eye protection!

I have used RTV silicone before. It would help keep the hose from getting TOO stuck = they were easier to get off. The PIA came when I had to clean the old silicone off to put the new hose on. Now, I just smooth the sharp barbs down some, or just buy the smoother 'bulb' end fittings when I can...
