Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

The reason Marty is asking is if there is air in the line before you start, the “burp” of air will cause a hard start and often smoke when it does because the first batch of fuel isn’t burning properly. Then maybe no air intrusion while running…

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

100%!! Keep the other engine, they used to be cheap, now they are getting harder to find at a good price. Set up your camera to watch the clear line for the next couple of cold starts. Then if that turns up nothing, I would begin with doing the water down intake trick to clean out all the...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

White smoke is unburned fuel, water from humidity, or coolant. As good as it isn’t for your lungs, smelling the smoke tells you what it is.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

@MrMarty51 measures at the ip inlet is what counts. 8-14 is ideal range. But if out of range, I would rather 1psi high than 1psi low.

Hello 1997.5 Hummer H1 in Southern California

As to problems from the system- the same design actually came from the racing industry, known as gear drive. The idea that vibrations go through the gears into the injection pump and cause issues is as ignorant as can be. Ignorant as in someone is uneducated. The db2 pump used in gm before...

Gm is always using undersized wires- penny pinch on copper costs. Multiple places the wiring should be increased.

    4l60 swap to a 4l80?

Yeah, same opinion. Unless you are going to replace the engine with something mega powerful- replace the 4l60 with another one. B&M, summit, and a million other places sell them built to withstand more load than you can produce. Towing that load down the highway with a th400 that is only 1:1...

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

No orings. No pipe tape or dope. Clean threads and snug it up. That is a flare fitting. It seals by simple compressive force.

    4l60 swap to a 4l80?

Wait… so this isn’t some kind of torque monster build thats gonna happen? I thought with the heavier duty axles going in that the trans was getting the big upgrade for power that is next or already on an engine stand like an 8.1 Please explain your plans for the finished truck, and how you are...

    4l60 swap to a 4l80?

Yes but it will require more modifications than just swapping them. The transmission mount will be relocated as will the transfer case swapped or modified by changing the input shaft from 27 to a 32 tooth. This also leads to drive shaft modifications. I remember you shorten the rear shaft...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Then I wasn’t clear. Stainless steel is harder than the mild steel the hinge is made of. Stainless steel rubbing on stainless steel will require an outside lubricant or they will seize together eventually and the bushing will then start to spin in the mild steel hinge. It isn’t that the...

    Electronical Fuel Pressure Gauge

The snubber is what smooths out the gauge. But usually the bigger pumps that run non stop have a recirculating hose and that calms the pulse.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Idk about stainless bushings.. Bronze normally use because they are a self lubricant. Also they are softer metal on purpose so they wear out instead of the hole they go into. The steel hole only gets messed up when the bronze gets worn too far. The stainless will only cause all wear to be on...

Keeping door latched the entire time with window rolled down, use door frame to force up and down, in and out to feel for movement that might be creating thee sound. Biggest trick in stopping a sound is a positive id to what it is.

Delrin is the white plastic used in things like door strikers, motorcycle skid pads, Heavy equipment metal to metal where grease isn’t used (like the extension on a boom lift or crane). The black plastic junk they switched to is a cost savings move.
