Got the JY unit installed. All is well. I really did think about future me. When I swapped it prior I took the console out, which is a process needing the front seats lifted. I never put the inaccessible rear bolts in it. Only the front bolts. I am welcome. Made this a 15 min project.
I don't...
Once I get it out of its cave (a bit of a job!) We will crack it open and see what it looks like. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon.
Most likely would got get another at the JY for $15. Worse part is getting them out!
Well the multi year long mystery has been solved. Here is my assumption. The bose amp failed. The PO bypassed the amp and sub by swapping the 24 pin male connectors behind the radio. Which is how you put in a cheap aftermarket system i guess.
Today I temporarily plugged in my JY amp. And we...
So I've still been struggling with a Bose sound system issue. It's like no bass, at all. Been that way since I bought it years ago now.
I had a revelation about a YouTube video I saw about bypassing the factory bose system by unplugging a gray connector in the dash, and plugging that directly...
My buddy said the same thing when I told him a the custom places were closed. So I went to NAPA requesting a custom hose. Buy by the time I requested 3 feet, plus the 6F JIC crimps it was a $60 hose. Luckily they had the one I bought on the shelf.
Still out plowing. Blew a line today. Of course all the custom hose places are closed. My local Fisher dealer shut down a few weeks back too.
NAPA rescued me with the last hose on the shelf. I need to replace the others, but it will have to wait. It's gonna be single digits all week.
Yes they do.
It actually happens with the plow off too. Had to remove it for a longer road trip (since I still have cooling issues with the plow on). I attended some YouTube educational classes and it looks to be common and the flasher is the culprit. Quick swap out of the flasher 10-pin unit...
Snow continues. This was yesterday AM:
Traveled to the in-laws to clear their drive. Starting to have an issue with the turn signal not blinking. It will sometimes stay solid on the dash, and sometimes not illuminate at all. Was happening soley to a left turn which made me think stalk switch...
We made it back last night. Just under 2,700 miles, round trip. Winds were crazy the entire drive, and with the slop in the steering made it less than enjoyable. Also had a CEL come on for P0420, which is disappointing as the converters are only 3 or 4 years old. I am assuming the No. 6 injector...
Confirmed 3 bolt housing today on my daily fluid inspection. We are leaving FL early Saturday. Supposedly back home is getting hit with "feet" of snow today though tomorrow. Fingers crossed it's clear for our return Saturday evening. May have to pull in the drive and hook the plow up before...
Well, I totally forgot to update this but we made it 1,100 miles to FL in the Yukon.
The throttle body cleaning and power supply (disconnect neg. Terminal) removal didn't solve the idle issue. Just for the heck of it I then replaced the No. 5 cylinder coil pack with one I got from the junkyard...
Only port in the throttle seems to be PCV valve and fuel tank purge line. Really the most simple one I've messed with!
My understanding the IAT on the 5.3l is in the MAF housing. I actually cleaned the MAF with proper cleaner at couple weeks back, it was super easy to do at the time.
You are...
Got the throttle body off. Definitely gunked. Is it enough to be detrimental? Not sure, the blade still seemed to actuate smooth.
Some standing oil in the back of the intake, tough to see in pic. Need to try and dry this up
i have an old catch can from my F150, but i havent got around to...
I got 2 things of SeaFoam. (1) 16oz to dump in the fuel tank, and (1) 16oz with the fancy spraying tube for direct intake fogging. I should have gotten 2 cans for the fuel due to tank size but oh well, its a start. I was going to put less fuel in but the temps are gonna be single digits the end...
I'm working from home tomorrow, so I will try to remove it and clean it during lunch. I need to get a gasket for it too today.
I'm lost on the Italian tune up, I'm mostly scottish!
I haven't, but I am going to try to grab some after lunch today. I'm at a 1/4 tank again now so it's good timing. I always thought that stuff to be like snake oil. Contemplating on trying rhw seafoam, I have heard good stories, none that hurt anyway.
We got the Snap On scanner and scope plugged into the Yukon this AM.
All "reads" normal, except for a very slight misfire at idle on Cylinder 5. It's minimal enough to not trigger a CEL, and only at idle not any bit of throttle. A cylinder balance really didnt show much deviation either, all...
