    1999 506 Long Block

I have a 1999 506 (April ‘99) long block which failed and seized due to loss of oil pressure from an oil cooler line that failed. Engine never over heated. It was replaced with a new Optimizer 6.5 last August. I need to get rid of it as we are starting construction on a second garage. I would...

Truck Value vs What's Sought After.

At this point, the utility value is far more important than the financial value.

    Chinese 6.5 block

I have an April ‘99 506 long block which seized due to a leak in an oil cooler line. I have not opened it up. It is located in Montana. My shipping costs on the new replacement optimizer was $900. Not sure it is worth it. I had offered it to Marty here, but I think he went with a new Optimizer.

    Chinese 6.5 block

My understand is that compression design is a balance between the amount of turbo boost. The higher the boost, the lower the compression. Many of the modern diesels run 20+ psi boost, but do so with 17:1 compression ratios. 6.5 ran 20:1 compression ratio with 7.5 psi limit through a wastegate.

Would you try any of this on a Chinese block?

I think among the remaining members, the era of testing the 6.5 to the point of breakage is over. What’s left is a bunch of old men hoping to still do it without the purple pill.

    7 &10 degree reamers

My issue is I’m watching existing knuckles, as I may have reamed them too deep. I had the passenger side tie rod loosen in the knuckle, despite have a cotter pin in the castled nut. I torqued that down with the Rigid cordless torque and it seems to no longer be an issue. I need to check the ball...

    7 &10 degree reamers

Yeah I’ve got the reamers. As Diesel Amateur noted, reaming the lower portion of the knuckle is the most difficult as you must enter from the inside. This eliminates using a drill press. I ended up using an angle drill. I would consider renting the reams, but shipping would probably kill the...

The Jarritos Mandarin soda celebrates the end of this saga where an homeless person threw an unopened Jarritos through the rear window of my Honda while I was stopped at a red light. The bottle exploded in the car, drenching everything including the headliner, eventually cause it to sag. This...

Took my 2005 Honda Accord in to Nacho’s to get headliner replaced. He saw my manual 5 spd and wanted to buy the car on the spot. Told him not for sale. He’ll have the headliner done Monday and he’ll install it when I come over that evening.

This looks to be my only option to ground it. Or are you saying the ground is already going through the visor frame and mount?

I like Nacho’s work on the headliner, so I’m taking my Honda in Saturday for headliner. This one is sagging after a homeless dude threw an unopened bottle of Mexican soda through my rear window while I was stopped at a light in Anaheim, CA.
