Hey all,
Was scrolling through ebay, and found a few gems. These mauals are elsewhere on ebay, but for much higher prices, I felt these were worth sharing due to value...
OK, not a problem. :)
Do you know if the shroud is the "shallow" one that has sharp stiffening ribs and thinner plastic, or is it the thick sculpted shroud?
I "think" the shallow sharp ribbed one went hand in hand with the thread on fan clutch.
Dang, that does not sound fun! Hopefully they can get it sorted out and it can get back to making money.
Dont dump it too soon, make her work for her oats for a while. :)
If it runs perfect when warm, my vote is for the cold advance piston in the injection pump is shot. It will need sleeved during a rebuild.
One of many reasons the DB2 does not excite me... :)
It has a GEP valve cover, still in the military crate. wants 400 bucks. 1000 miles from home, (but will be within 10 miles of my next trip out west) so I figure its worth the risk.
Check fuel pressure, glow plug operation, etc.
Lots of little problems add up to a big problem.
Best case, a new OPS and a few glow plugs, worse case a new injection pump and injectors.
Overall, still better than a new pickup if you dont need the power. a full set of 6.5L injectors costs what...
Hey all,
I ran across what the seller claims to be a GEP 6.2L. Is this possible? I thought GEP only made 6.5Ls.
Regardless, for the price (well under1K) I think I will buy it, but I just wanted to know more.
Any info appreciated, thanks!
The OEM quick connect is orficed slightly, and the 6.2L's heater hose nipple fitting is also orficed. I have never thought much of the hardware store bar fitting route many take when deleting the quick connect.
IMO run the OEM fitting or get a 6.2L nipple, dont do anything else.
Does anyone actually have any time to spare though? :) If he wanted an immediate sale and offered immediate service, he would have put "calls only" and gave out his phone number.
This is like getting mad when someone wont respond immediately to a text message.
JMO though.
IMO the shifter mounted controller sounds like a strange idea that might work OK with a self leveling controller like the P3, but on one that is manually leveled could be potentially hazardous.
I have had my P3s for a collective 30,000 miles so far and I think I have actually needed to manually...
Cool thread!
One little tidbit that I think might be overlooked is people not putting the heatshield back on, and the front mount of the shield sandwiches between the bolt and the bracket, so that thickness needs to be taken into account.
