It is a cko hx35 with a 14 cm exhaust housing. I did have a legit Holset compressor wheel and housing on the intake side (stock size, 56mm iirc). I had the exducer housing bored 2mm to reduce drive pressure, which reduced boost pressure from 9 to 6psi on the highway (at 2700rpm and unloaded)-...
I found the cko hx35 with a 14cm housing to be too small (even with the exducer housing ported) for towing heavy. Never had a problem with the turbo itself.
You can go to YT and look up "6.5 diesel test and tune" by Mark Geisewite to see how it worked. Db2 tuned by me with a lot of water and...
Didn't think to ask. I have some different ideas for building an engine, and I'm just starting to test my theories. One thing I don't want to deal with again is cracked pistons (or a cracked block). Since a P400 is out of the question, a different approach will have to be taken.
Here is a 660...
I called Ross and they will indeed make a one-off set of pistons (forged, anodized, and he might have said coated- my hearing is not fantastic).
NOT cheap, but I've had pistons custom made for tractors before and I knew it wouldn't be.
Has anyone ever had a set of forged pistons made for a 6.2 or 6.5? I'm going to call Ross later today to see if it is something they would do. Just wondering if it's already been done by someone else.
It's close, about 3/8". But I use a regular 5/16" Craftsman on it. Good eye catching my second intake tube into the fender. 4" sewer pipe screwed to the inner fender. Nice place to cut a hole through if you want to. My theory is, the fewer turns air has to make to get in and out of the engine...
Using an early style flat panel filter, I came up with this. Don't buy the nonsense that it won't flow enough air. Turbo outlet is turned down for the CAC out front.
If anybody has a truly junk 6.2-5 (like just hasn't been scrapped yet), I would be grateful if someone could do an experiment on it for me. PM me if you would be willing to help me out.
Thanks in advance!
Picked up my block today. Notice the porosity on one side of the crack. If number 4 main web on the passenger side is the most common place these let go, my bet is on poor cast quality. 2006 Optimizer. This is the only crack and it wasn't visible until after hot tanking and magnaflux.
You would think that since newer hmmwvs will get transferred to NG and reserve units as the Army replaces them, that GEP would continue building them to keep those units running until they are all phased out. The techs in those units know the 6.5 in and out and wouldn't have to be retrained in...
Sounds a lot like what I want to do. IF I ever hear back from the machine shop that my block is ok!
I don't have that header, but I ported a set of exhaust manifolds and am thinking about building an 18cm Hx40 with a 60mm wheel. Twist it- don't lug it!
