@JiFaire The following thread needs to be a sticky in the technical reference library. I have suggested it before years ago and it was overlooked. It may have just cost Rodd a re-do on the head gaskets.

@Rodd...
Wasn't really looking just checking if it was even available and I tripped over a NOS IP gear. I ordered both gears as NOS as the cam gear is more common to find.
Do you coat both gears?
Does the coating affect the clearance of the gears? If so I would need to add a shim.
Cam gear major...
Can they also run this off the oil pump drive sensor the 1993's had? (And used for the factory ECM controlling the 4L80E)
Maybe whatever parts are in the best shape is the question as the oil pump drive sensor would crack the housing. (I sealed mine up with RTV.)
1993 doesn't need it. The water pump, reverse rotation or not, and it's backplate are a different. I have run a 6.2L cover on a 1993. I believe the chain oil splash deflector for the CDR was the only thing I left out of the 6.2 dropped into the 1993 because it wasn't needed. Other than the water...
If it's still a no start... Or the next time it doesn't:
Offhand you need 9V at the small wire and 11V at the large wire minimum for the starter to work. Measure with a voltmeter. 9V or more at the small wire eliminates the ignition switch. (With the ign switch in start of course.)
Likely the...
Use two exhaust manifold gaskets and header wrap the manifold. Then the 6.2 injectors will work. Not easy to remove, but, will work. This way you have matched injectors IF the 6.2 injectors are good.
That's a lot of blowby. Combined with the rear main oil seal leak the engine could have worn...
Ah HAHAHAH, Gasp Choke, Ah HAHAHA!!! I missed this years ago. 🤪
HX40II and ATT with a spool valve in hot AZ heat on a 6.2 longblock... NA small precups and plain non-coated pistons. I ran synthetic engine oil: Otherwise lack of piston coating WILL ruin the engine oil in 1000 miles. (Out of...
Did you replace the HVAC blend doors?
Is the fan clutch less than 5 years old and a MOPAR unit? (Not iffy aftermarket or parts store trouble.)
Is the compressor turning?
If so are the A/C lines at the firewall both getting cold?
If you don't have voltage to the compressor coil, not turning...
Common problems:
Brake light switch stuck "on".
It's not that? Then...
Glove box light on.
Dome lights on from bad switch.
Underhood light.
Aftermarket radio gone bad. Or wiring problem.
Trailer Brake controller.
Horn switch stuck on (relay taking power) and burnt out the horn.
And an oddball...
Bad Idea. Good way to experience a diesel engine runaway when the oil flows backwards from the drain into the intake! The turbo flows a lot of oil. Little intake vacuum and you have a flooded Pro-Vent...
Take an example from Cummins who uses a separate drain into the block/oil pan from the oil...
Pull the oil fill cap. Start engine. If it huffing or just steady blowby?
Fix the fuel leaks. Again WITH FEELING Fix The Fuel Leaks! It's the #1 troubleshooting step in the GM service manuals for a reason. Fuel leaks allow air into the fuel system. Air will compress where fuel will not...
The OEM TC clutch is weak: You don't want to override it as is/was a popular mode to manually lock the TC on. The more common failure mode is the TCC apply piston in the valve body wears out the bore and the TC slips from that. Changing the transmission oil often helps these components live...
Have you pulled codes?
Note the speed sensor (input and output speed) wires like to have the insulation flake off and short out. Inspect the wire from the speed sensor plug where it joins the main harness for shorting. I have seen two 1993's do this both 6.5TD and a 454.
The cam gear is replaceable as part of a big job. The IP gear is able to be removed from the pump, but, it's the part I can't get new. The gears are the only item needing repair.
My question is coating a new cam gear going to do any good with the existing IP gear wear?
I am working on a 12 DJC Onan 12KW generator and have severe wear on the gear drive for the injection pump. The camshaft gear that drives the pump is available and replaceable, but, the injection pump gear is unobtainium. I bought a parts set just for the injection pump, but, it's starting to...
Engine braking with this transmission: FORGET ABOUT IT!!!
Yes, it only brakes in manual 3rd with the weakest afterthought small clutch pack there is. I have burned out several although that clutch pack being fried doesn't affect going forward. Because these transmissions snap off the input shaft...
I just happen to have one. Check the numbers to make sure they will work.
$100 plus the ride. Worked when I parted out the truck due to another blown engine. Private message me if interested.
