    Tight/Taunt GP Wires

They are much longer on the passenger side and have braided material over every wire. It’s a much better harness over the original.

    1987 6.2 diesel rebuild

This morning I purchased a set of clevite rod bolt sleeves to protect the crankshaft journals on reassembly.Total cost was $20 from Amazon.

    Tight/Taunt GP Wires

I never did like the way the factory wiring was routed on the passenger side for those glow plugs. The aftermarket harnesses are definitely much, much better in many ways.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

I picked up a set of stock turn signal lenses/housings for my 96 gmc truck from rockauto. The current lenses are aftermarket with a lot of moisture trapped inside.Maybe today I’ll get a chance to put those on.

    1987 6.2 diesel rebuild

When I started dismantling the engine for the rebuild I didn’t see any scoring on the journals when I removed the crankshaft. It looked pretty decent for the amount of miles put upon it.Maybe the journals were tapered or out of round slightly. I should be able to pick up the castings soon from...

    1987 6.2 diesel rebuild

Your definitely right about GM taking the cheap way out. That was always their way of doing things. Even the rocker arm setup was made cheaper in 1985.I always liked the older 82-84 rocker setup.

    1987 6.2 diesel rebuild

Here are some pictures of how it looked before I sent it off to the shop a few weeks back. Also are pictures of some parts I plan to use within it with some decals I had made to install upon the valve covers once it’s all painted and assembled.More pictures and details on the way when I pick up...

    1987 6.2 diesel rebuild

That’s good to hear indeed.I didn’t ask the machinist what size bearings it’s going to use but maybe .13mm perhaps?I also heard of .26mm as well but I’ll post the info when I find out.

    1987 6.2 diesel rebuild

Hey guys.I mentioned this in the 6.5 section but just figured I’d put this build info in the right place.Basically I have a 87 6.2 diesel with about 400,000KM on it that I decided to rebuild recently and have as a spare engine.I ran this engine for a few years in my 96 Chevy K1500 and I have to...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

It’s a good thing it didn’t let go with the hood up if you were doing a visual inspection of the belt or pulleys with it running.Wow.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

My G80 has a massive amount of miles on it and I don’t have any issue with it.It’s has been taken care of pretty well since I’ve owned the truck with a couple of drain intervals performed. I’ve read they are troublesome but I don’t always believe what I read or hear.I’m sure yours will be fine too👍

    Injectors

I can remember some of the diesel Kiki injection pumps found on the Nissan diesels come think of it.My father and I installed a 4 cylinder Nissan diesel into an older industrial bobcat for winter snow plowing.

The full floater would be nice indeed. My rear is just the 14 bolt corporate differential with 9.5” ring gear.I put new acdelco backing plates on it several years ago.Has the G80 gov bomb that is supposedly known for trouble.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Thanks for sharing Big T.Mine is definitely the NP243 and the one I have on the way is too.I have some pennzoil transmission fluid from Napa and a new felpro gasket for it with front input seal and rear seal.I figure I may as well change those before I install it. I’ll have to pick up a...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

I compared both 96 and 98 model years to rockauto and it’s the same part number for the truck and suburban with electric push button 4wd.Rockauto calls it a NV243.I have heard of the 246 like you mentioned.I heard there was a issue with the housing wearing through at some point.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Today on eBay coming from Texas I purchased a good used NP243C transfer case for my 96 gmc.It has the electric push button 4wd.My current transfer case has very high mileage (630,000KM) and is leaking from various places. So rather than try to repair/reseal my own I’m just going to swap it out...

    Injectors

It shouldn’t cost any more than $30 to have injectors sent my way from the U.S.Come think of it I bought a brand new DS4 pump from badger back in 2014.He shipped my way back then.I haven’t bought anything else from him other than a spare pmd.
