Thanks, MrMarty. I adjusted timing and did TDCO relearn first, and that cleared things up. Seems fine now. Only thing left is hard warm start - once it's started everything seems fine. I'll check around about it.
The reason Marty is asking is if there is air in the line before you start, the “burp” of air will cause a hard start and often smoke when it does because the first batch of fuel isn’t burning properly. Then maybe no air intrusion while running…
