Agreed, but the tank does have the radiator cap.If the radiator has a cap on the radiator and not the overflow tank then any tank of comparable size would work
Thanks dbrannon79. As you suggested, I am on the hunt for a suitable tank with a cap. Always up for a little fabrication.with the recovery tank being pressurized, I don't think other gasser trucks will have the same connection sizes. I'm sure you could rig something up to work temporarily but my vote would be to convert it to the older style 94 and older system that uses a radiator cap on the radiator, then the recovery tank is not a pressurized one.
rig it now while you save your coins for a solid aluminum champion radiator with cap!
Oh and welcome to the forum @Brad4him
Might be Rock Auto could have one. Thanks dbrannon79. As you suggested, I am on the hunt for a suitable tank with a cap. Always up for a little fabrication.
Maybe about a piece of about 2 or 3 inch diameter copper pipe about 8 or so inches long. Solder a cap over one end.Remember on the pressurized style tank. the factory one iirc has two hoses going to it. one is ether a 1/2" or 3/8" from the top of the radiator, the lower one that tee's into the lower rad hose is 1"
the way it's setup is the small hose is used to bleed the system as you fill as well as help circulate coolant from the tank into the radiator. Flow is out the top, in the bottom. you can plug the smaller hose off on the radiator if the jungle site recovery tank only has the single port, but once you get it filled and burped of all the air, the coolant will never circulate from tank.
one option that you can also do which would eliminate the recovery tank all together is to get one of those inline radiator caps and plug off both hoses to the old tank. you would have to ether add a short section of hose on the upper bib of the radiator and connect the upper OE hose to the inline cap or cut the upper rad hose and install it there.
That may be the best idea yet drannon!Remember on the pressurized style tank. the factory one iirc has two hoses going to it. one is ether a 1/2" or 3/8" from the top of the radiator, the lower one that tee's into the lower rad hose is 1"
