Fuel Line Leak

Well I noticed a spot under my truck about right under the drivers seat. When I crawled under it there is diesel fuel on the frame. The rubber lines that come from the filter canister look dry but right after that where the hard lines are connected to a bracket everything is wet. I guess one of the hard lines is rusted through right there somewhere. I wanted to see what other guys have done to fix their ailing fuel lines. Thanks in advance.

I assume you are talking about after the lift pump to the flt mgr lines?

I would replace them with rubber lines right up to flt mgr. If you still have a good solid steel piece after the lift pump, I'd cut that a foot away from the lift pump, flare it, and replace the entire length with diesel rated 3/8ths ID fuel line. Double hose clamp each end, and check for leaks.

How do you connect to the filter manager with barb fittings? If so what size threads are they?

I've never swapped mine out, but by looking at it, there is already a fitting with a factory spring clamp on the back. Should be 3/8ths ID rubber line already there. Pull/break old factory spring clamp off, slide new hose, apply new hoseclamp.

Maybe someone else can back me up, or correct me if i'm wrong.

If you undo the 2 nuts or bolts that hold the flt mgr down, you should be able to lift it up enough to access the hose without removing the upper and lower intakes, which is the other option. Takes a little time, and requires new gaskets. But allows you to get a good view of the flt-mgr to IP hose, and get all the leaves and those little 'helicopter' leaf bud things that seem to accumulate in the oddest of spots.
