I was browsing car code's site today, and saw that they have ebay auctions for the VPW scanner (for our trucks) starting at $20 with free shipping. The regular price is like $130. So for those of you looking for a scanner that can do timing, this might be your chance to get one for really cheap.

Please PM me direct link or post it here. Can't find it. Good score for sure.

Thanks a ton!!!!

This will help a bunch of us MassHOles get our systems TDC0 to -1.5 desired. So please don't outbid me!

LOL, I can adjust TDC offset with it I hope?

Probably should have asked before I bid..... I thought I rememberd elsewhere someone said it did.

About 4 of use DTR around Mass are trying to do a get-together to get all of our tdc offsets to -1.5, so this will help alot of us here. Thanks again.

I am in Maine. Yes, you can do tdco with it. It even has a learn function. I have used it, as well as qwomack and some others. It is a bit different to get used to at first but. Qwomack even did a write up on how to do timing with this scanner.

Does that only work on OBD2? And I find it hard to believe any bidirectional scanner that actually has programming for the 6.5 is $130 or less. Can it be true?

For OBD2 you really dont even need a scanner to do TDCO, just the KOKO and if it doesnt code youre good to go. It would be nice to see the value. In OBD1 I need the scanner, but GMTDScan already kicks ass there.

Shoo!

Stay away!

I woulnd't want to touch my IP without being able to read the value. Who knows for certain where its at now, and where it will end up.

x2, and this reads all values, and info from more sensors than you can shake a stick at.

Factory setting is -.5 max IIRC. So if you do KOKO that's probably the max you would get. Mine didn't set codes and I was at +3.5 IIRC. The only thing you need after the purchase of carcode is a laptop. All you get is a cable and software.

You can check out some timing threads but max TDCO is -1.94 on mine, because when it gets to -2.02 it codes DTC88 for TDCO out of range.

3.5 is the base timing, mine will get a TDCO value around -.5 to -.75 with 3.5 degrees. I get -1.94 TDC when timing is around 4 degrees.

Even though I haven't seen anyone go over -1.94 it is said OBD2s can go to -2.20 before coding.

He was referring to factory. I know I could move it 1mm and KOKO but who knows. And you also live in a nice climate. I wouldn't want to be anywhere in earshot of my engine starting it near 0 at -2.20 or -1.94 from what I've read. When cold advance advances it that much more things get loud. However, safe, but scary loud.
