I am looking at a 96 GMC C2500(HD) with 200K on the clock, and the seller said that he had the turbo rebuilt, computer replaced, and injection pump updated.

I was wondering what he meant by update. was there some stanadyne update for the DS4s?

Any input appreciated!

I thought I remember reading about a reflash that was available from the dealer. Updated probaly means it has the 5521 ip which has all the updates available from Stanadyne.

x2

My 95 has the 5288 pump, 96 may have updated to 5521

Stanadyne did come out with actual updates to make the IPs more robust to be more reliable. And I think the latest of them in just the last few years, like 2006. Too bad it took them this long to make a siginificant PMD change. Although some may view the PMD update to be an IP update.

I was under the impression that the 5521 had all the updates. Got any info on what else was done after the 5521 came out?

auto on the dodge, 4wd on the chevy, 1 strike apiece! :) I am picky, huh? and not too mainstream on my wants and needs. :)

Hey why not, you know what ya want, I love looking / hunting for what I want at the price I want it for, IMO all the fun is in the hunt...):h

PS never fear Murphy's law, just as soon as you find what you want, just around the next corner or the next add will be something a little nicer, a better color, less miles, cheaper...always happens. In today's market & state of economy it pays to be patient & find what you want. Ya just have to be ready to make a snap decision cause if it's a really good deal, they don't last very long.
