Not sure how long before this gets caught, but O REILLYS has the WIX 57202MP(MP is for master pack, or 12 in a box not individually boxxed) for $12.99. It doesn't show up on there website, and a few guys have said there store couldn't find it(as well as a few stores refusing to sell them for that saying it's a mistake), but somebody on another board picked up a case for $12.99 + tax(I have my set coming in Tuesday if they don't catch the price error and jack it back up). These are the filters for the DURAMAX, but they will also work on a 6.5L, or any other engine using the 13/16 oil filter thread and the large canister. Make sure they look up the MP as they get $15.99 for these filters individually. Theres also another error for the AC DELCO equivalant. The PF2232F(the F stands for box of 12 not individually boxxed) is listed for $17.99 or $8.99 a piece.

Hopefully I can get my set before the error gets caught, and passing it on to see if a few more can get in on it as well.

Just an update, others have gotten these with no problems, but my store refused to sell them to me even though the guy admitted to quoting me this price, and they could find records of others buying them for this price. They said it's supposed to be $12.99 a filter, but theres an error in the system. I new it was a crapshoot, and my luck with gambling goes like this.

Sounds like your ready for a trip to Vegas!

My local store is trying to push 2 cases through for me, we'll see.

Not an error, supposedly it's a clearance of the MP's. Want me to order and ship you a box?

Says the bypass valve setting is 15 psi is that right?

15 sounds right. I remember thinking the acceptable low oil pressure rating being below filter bypass and shaking my head.

I tried to order online and couldn't, I had to do ship to store, and it said call dtore for approval. I'm going in there tomorrow to talk to the Mgr and see what my eta is.

Are you guys all looking at the Wix over the AC Delco Pro? I was thinking Delco?

So anything over 15 psi is bypassed sounds like most of the oil wouldn't get filtered. The filter the 6.5 normally uses doesn't even have a bypass.

No. If the filter gets so plugged up that it has 15 psi internal resistance -then it will bypass. Most filters it will just push the media through. Definately a desirable feature.

I know on all 6.5 Hummers using a filter without it voided engine warranty.

It's a larger filter media than the 6.5l filter, but it does have a higher bypass pressure than a 6.5l filter. I believe the 6.5 is 8-10, and the duramax is 15. It just means it takes more filter restriction before it bypasses the filter, and about the only time it would happen is when the oil is cold. I ran them on mine when everybody said I would starve it of oil because of the 5 psi higher bypass setting, and never had a problem.

the 6.5 filter has no bypass it's full flow only

They all have a bypass to them. It's the spring or spring plate that holds the filter media to the threaded base thats the bypass. Once the pressure on the incoming side of the filter gets to a certain point, it pushes the filter media down, and bypasses.

The boxes sometime show a generic picture of filter construction with a spring (coil, cup, or leaf) holding the filter media up but they don't all give a specification for it and I don't know if do or don't bypass. Sadly, I have never cut a 6.5 filter apart yet.

The 6.5 does have a bypass built into the oil passage that will bypass a plugged filter.

I would take you up on that offer. If you can and would. I would definitely take a case. I just called my local Orielly's and they sais they could not get them

Same funny story here. They got the error corrected even though I ordered some through the store manager.

So on Monday I tried to have the local store order the AC Delcos - they have to get from the factory, so they called and sent email. Nothing all week. AC Delco just keeps slipping downhill.
I ordered the Wix tonight, coming from AZ, (probably Warwagon's left overs) should be here Tuesday.

Just go into your local store and order them. I paid for it now just in case it gets a price change before they get here.

Several have tried that, and the managers stepped in and refused to sell them, one guy even said he refused to refund him.
