Well I got back last night with my old yellow 95 6.5 N/A truck. I have to make an adjustment to the paint on the truck ,originaly I thought it looked like a 20 foot paint job but I actually believe it is more like a 50 footer. My nephew told me thats one ugly truck , it does kind of stand out I guess.

For having junk tires up front the old girl went down the road pretty good for having 148K on the clock. Temp stayed between 185/190 all day, oil pressure stayed at 40 but I noticed the needle liked to move around a little bit a pound or two have to get a mech gauge.

Man that is one heavy motor! I really noticed having all that weight up front from the feel of the steering wheel.I didn't gouge on it or anything I figured I would wait to get home before I blew it up, but she held the hills pretty decent, I know I have to get cruise put on that truck that throttle pedal SUCKS!!!

Couple of questions I have is how does the motor respond to a pressure cleaning is everything sealed up ok in there? And I took the aircleaner off today and noticed that it was really crappy looking inside the intake manifold, thick caked on black crap. Is this normal for that crap to be in there like that and I would imagine that I have to take the intake off to clean it, I'm I correct in this ?

And lastly my option codes sticker is still on the glove box door where can I find out what the codes are? Thanks.

How about a pic?

Can you fill in your signature so we all will be better informed of what truck you have?

I have no experience with power washing under the hood, but if take the time to read the sticky section about grounds & the issues related with them before ya start spraying high pressure water around in the engine compartment.

I don't know if you 6.5 guys have a different method but an engine washdown for the Dmax consists of cold engine, good liberal spraydown with Simple Green, soak for 5 min or so and a good washdown with the garden hose. No way with a power wash!

Thanks for the link GW. I found most of my options but not all of them. According to the option code I have a 6.0 L49 motor must be a typo ,a 460LE HMD trans bummer, and dual power brakes 6400lbs what ever that might be. A GVW of 6100lbs, has a HD trans cooler, posi rearend but I still don't know what the ratio is, all I can tell ya at 70 mph its taching around 2000rpm.

Anyone know about the black sludge in the intake manifold could I have some bad injectors ? It seems to run ok didn't notice any heavy black smoke. How fast do these motors start up in the morning say about 60 degrees using the glow plugs? Thanks.

You know I'm not sure but I think there's one on the right pass side.I just went out and looked must be what it is its attached to the valve cover and the intake and its looking pretty oily in there.

That brass colored cannister would be the CDR and it needs to be there. Might want to either clean it or replace it though. This picture is a bit small but you can still see the CDR attached to the passenger side Valve Cover with a Blue Sticker on it.

Is the eighth digit of your VIN and "S" or an "F".
"S" = EGR Valve which many suspect you have. Black sludge inside the intake is more than likely Exhaust Gas Residue. EGR valve is a big wart on top of the upper intake with a vac hose running off to the drivers side and a bank of solenoids.

Here's a shot of the inside of my "S" after I scrapped a quarter inch of sludge off it and thirty minutes before I said to heck with it and decided to execute the "S" to "F" (non EGR) swap.

These two shots are of my upper and lower "F" intake 6 months after I swapped out the "S" upper and lower units.

Well Pavel its like this the 6.5 in my 95 GMC is a P code motor no turbo and the egr is on the pass side of the truck. I imagine the safe way to clean the manifold is take it off the truck. And thanks for the advice and pictures. .

Ok, reading skills one-O-one. Sorry I missed the N/A and thanks for not verbally castigating me.
I'm in Cincinnati on buisness this week but Fowler is too far off to fit into my schedule. Othewise, I'd make the run up there to see it first hand.
Good game tonight by the way. Talented Pitcher the Reds called up from the minors but I digress....

LOL, eye have enuff trouble wiff my own reeding skills to blast somebody else. I have a friend that lives out there around Salt Lake can't remember the town, he works for the Kraftmaid cabinet company which happens to be closed. I think he's one of 2 or 3 employee's left ,he's a tech he has to make sure the machines will run ok if they should decide to start making cabinets again.

I'm going to go look at a turbo setup off a 95 is that a F type intake?
Hope so he wants $200 bucks for it, I think its pretty complete but I don't think he has the air box, but its more than what I have right now.

The first picture of the pretty set up is the "F" intake I swapped in last November.
There's another Truck Stop member up there by you, Deere3594. Perhaps you two could link up.
Consult the FAC/tech stickies to see if there's a how to on adding the Turbo. I'm new enough to these things that i hesitate to give advice. The "N/A" faux pax is a good example as to why.:agreed:

I'm not new to diesels I've been running Mack trucks for 32 yrs but the difference between a Mack and a 6.5 is huge ,totaly different motor and its not built Mack tuff.
