Hello all,

I bought a Back Rack over the summer and it happened to come with 2 lights mounted to it. Currently the wires are just snipped off and dangling. I was going to take them off, but realized they would make awesome rear lighting while plowing! My question is could i possibly wire them to the cargo lighting circuit? I dont use the built in cargo light at all, so i could even remove the small bulbs so they arent drawing at all. Will it still draw too much with the aftermarket lights on that circuit? Im looking for the cleanest wiring route. Thanks!

If you want them to run off the cargo lights and need more power just relay it. You could run all the wires under the hood or dash except for the one it takes to run the light. You may get away with a ground on the rack or at the frame directly below.

Here is a link on how to wire the relay.

Thanks! Thats a great schematic. I have a ton of relays that i got at the junkyard from Dodge vehicles. They just happen to be the same relay used to switch my Fisher plow headlights from truck to plow when the wire is plugged in the front, so i have many spares. I think they may have 5 prongs, not sure. Id also like to do this the wya you said, then i can have power up there for my beacon light also!

you could also run LED backup lights in their place, will draw much less amps and in my opinion are much cleaner lighting. they are pricey though, 15-20.00 each.
