Winch Recommendations: '95 to '99 Suburban with 6.5 TD

I'd probably go with a front reciever mount winch. Keep the weight off the front end until you need it. I'd also probably go 8-10k and a snatch block

I got a 12,000lb Milemarker from Winchdepot. It's ok for occasional use but will heat up if abused. If you plan on using it alo or abusing it, get a high end Warn.

yes I'm suprised being the boater you are you don't have a front mount reciever for launching and manuvering. You can get some relatively easy to connect and disconnect setups for the winches (wiring). Do both rigs and swap it back and forth

This is what AK is talking about http://www.google.com/products/cata...6UhrTerXNZSM2ASkp_zpBA&sa=image&ved=0CBEQ8gI# you can unplug it from either end of vehicle to the stranded one winch cradle is the black handle frame, they also make a 2" receiver front for your truck if you don't have a big bumper with one already on the front.

You'll want a snatch block also to double pulling power of the winch as a mud stuck vehicle has suction on it upping the drag weight of the vehicle I have this one http://www.nextag.com/Warn-61560-19-000-1238779616/prices-html for my Warn 14,000 winch I have on my GN trailer I haul my backhoe with so I can pull it's 12,000# dead weight up the trailer ramps when I need to work on it if it dies on me in the woods

If you want to remove your Suburban from a mud-hole you're going to want a 16,000# winch along with a snatch block and all the other accessories (tree saver, etc). Anything less is going to over-heat and leave you stuck.
