Will this work as a torsion bar tensioner?

I've heard a 5 ton puller can be used. I really don't understand how this thing could handle 5 tons as those bolt are the weakest link. But anyways, I'm sure my torsion bars have less than 5 tons of tension built in?

Will this thing work? Does it have enough of a lip to grab on the cross-member?

Thanks

You might get away with it but I would not take that chance. I have read of people using various items/ways to unload the T bars. IMO all can cause injury if they fail. The only one I would consider is a large C clamp with the pad removed so the ball can sit in the key. That would resemble the proper tool except for the real tool being very beefy.

I would not use it. It takes a ton of pressure to move them enough to get the blocks out to remove the key so please be careful.

Most auto parts stores will rent you the tool you need. Just go that way, it's not worth a hospital trip...
