Think I managed to inadvertantly tell my firewall to allow an updater unquestioned access to the internet. Believe it was Java.
All the bug checkers are out of date on my laptop. Currently updating everything and nothing major has popped up.
While waiting hours on dial-up to download I went through the program control on the firewall and changed everything to ask before accessing internet. Most everything was already set that way.
Hasn't autodialed since then.
