So I have been having IP Related Issues with my Truck.

I replaced my PMD with a Heath dtech setup.. that did not help but I needed one any way.
After driving for 2 days with a gauge on my fuel line I concluded that my pump was not the problem
I took the noise filter out and then bought a new one still getting problem

The problem was a code 17 18 35 36 so I figured the Optical sensor must be the problem.

So I was just going to get a new pump and install it ( I would keep there PMD as a extra since they would only take $90 off with out it and I would have no warranty on the pump)
Now they say Re/Re of the pump is only $350 plus gaskets and the wife says don't be cheep its better to let them do it.
I ask here and for that price it's better to let them do it.

So off it go's on Monday.
I get it back Wednesday
Original 1150 for the pump
350 for install plus and gasket or other small parts.

Add to that $95 to remove my Heath PMD and Wiring harness
Apparently it will not work from that far away from the pump. and the Dtech are Junk

New Lift Pump $137.40 Plus $95 to install it
++++ I scanned my Invoice
Total after The Government to there $250 some odd Dollars

$2245.40
A little more than I expected. But the truck does run ok
Timing is at -.40 I will have to adjust that.:mad2:

I think someone is jerking your chain on this one. Heath is a proven fix for the problem despite what they told you. I hope they at least gave it back to you:eek:!!!!! You should go ahead and remount it and use it. Mines ben there for 3+ years with no problems at all!! BTW don't ever go to this shop again!!

Well, it is a typical. They don't make money for the IP install but they charged for removing remote PMD/FSD which is supposed to be good anyway.

Now you have to charge yourself $95 to put it back on.

I do hope that they don't keep the Heath Isolator?

I have a pump I go at the Bay for $1 because it was dropped (broke stepper and optical connection) to play with. I am going to cut its PMD harness just so I have something plugged in there and keep it of Emergency use.

I always find it hard to take my truck away. Just feels like your burning money paying someone to do stuff you are capable of doing. I agree with PG, do what you can yourself, put the money towards fun stuff ................... or pay bills.

Did they call you to say that they were going to remove the Heath setup?

Cause if they didn't, that would make me mad as hell......and then charged you $95.00 to boot?

That just goes to show you they don't know much about the 6.5

IMO the heath setup would not interfere with the IP swap, so why did they remove it??
I guess it gave them a reason to soak you some more eh. I would be on their ass for the old IP,heath setup and the $95 back.

Well after looking closer I found that they removed my NEW RF filter (it was Under the seat) and all of the new Grounds I Installed :mad2:
Can you imagine what this would have cost me if I had Installed an ATT?? and or a WMI?

I am still going to have to Ajust the timing So I am off to find a fancy wrench to fit the bottem Bolt.

My Mother Always told me if you want something done right, Do it your Self.

NOTE: No they did not call me about the lift pump or the the PMD being a problem..... I think they took it off to install it in the Intake but could not get it to Fit  They said it will not work corectly with that long of a Lead to it... You can tell that by all the Problems Bill had at Bonnaville with it ):h

That place is crooked, borderline illegal shenanigans. What a bunch of crooks! If you got a written bid, and they went over it, you don't have to pay for the extra work. If you didn't get a written bid, you learned a valuable lesson. ALWAYS get a written bid prior to authorizing work.

You've also learned which shop you cannot trust. Cross one off your list. I would file a complaint with your state attorney general's office or office of consumer affairs. Don't even bother with the BBB; they're a worthless racket.

Ouch, crooks indeed, and inept to boot, FWIW the Heath driver sometimes gets installed in 6.5 equipped pusher RV's and the remote on those RV's is 20'+ long in some of those, one on my truck is a custom built @ 7.5' (to clear my now removed IC) vs the standard 6' one that comes with the remote

WOW, sounds like you got ripped! That is why, on the rare occasion that I do take my truck someplace to get worked on, I am extremely specific when I tell them what to fix and what not to"fix" and I always tell them to make sure to call me before they touch the truck.

I may seem like an asshole to them, but I am really just looking out for my own ass.

I would definately not pay the $95 for removing the PMD isolator. All they had to do was unplug it and plug in the other one. There was no need to take it out. I would tell them that you wanted it there, and they should be happy that you aren't subtracting more because you'll have to put it back on.
Same goes with the RF filter that they removed. If they thought it was a problem , then they could just disconnect it. The only reason that they removed it was to get more labor out of you to remove it. And aother thing. I just put a Heath PMD Isolator in. I got home from work, took off the tie, rolled up my sleeves, was careful not to get the clothes dirty, and still had it installed in about 15 minutes. Why did it cost $95 to take it out? You didn't weld it in did you??
Crooks, plain and simple. Find someone else to work on it, preferably someone that lives in your house.

Definately put back on none the less, and make it the primary, assuming truck is still running mint. Leave the other one on pump as a backup.

Probably was a Stanadyne shop. I've talked with the people at the local IP shop when I've been in there for stuff.

According to them the Stanadyne PMD is the only good one and extension harnesses don't work and aren't necessary.

I had an authorized Stanadyne dealer, IP rebuild shop tell me that my PMD wasnt OEM, and that I should get a new one, but they weren't daring enough to actually take it off. The shop I took it to once also wanted to charge for a bunch of crap but once I challenged the extra diagnostic charges, when I just asked them to replace parts they took it all off. I had a written document that I handed them that told them exactly what I wanted them to do, and they still had it with the file. I also challenged on the hours and they reduced them based on some efficiencies when doing multiple things.

Yup The are a authorized Stanadyne Rebuild Shop/ Dealer. I will hook it back up in the Morning.
Never Again will a Stranger Touch My Truck..........
Well except for the Full Body Restoration I am looking to get......
Thinking of Changing the Color?
