Why does this part say it will not fit my 1995 C1500?

This is the correct 21 inch fan upgrade for my truck right?

Staff edit: removed Ebay link as per site rules as it conflicted with a site vendor.

Not sure but some dmax fans may have been spin on, ones earlier than 04 are bolt on. Someone will know.

There r dmax bolt ons, Turbine Doc runs one. Its the early ones. I asked him if he had to trim the shroud n he grinned n said "no the fan trimmed it"! LOL Even our vaulted diesel guru can do a oops! Got u Tim! LOL

They, (Delco) made a replacment fan for the 6 blade that bolted to the 96 and earlier clutches.....If you remember when you switched to either the 20" steel or the 21" D Max you had to change the clutch for bolt hole desgin. On my 96 this was the blade that fit the 6 blade steel OEM clutch.

The blade your asking about (If i'm right) is a white 19" or 20" plastic/composite......This is what you got when you ordered a replacment for the 6 blade steel.

It will fit, but many require trimming. This is the new style plastic 21" fan blade that the LB7 and LLY DURAMAX use, and is the one that comes in the DURAMAX 6.5 fan kit. The 6.5 is only meant to have a 20" metal fan blade, and all of the catalogs only list what came on them stock(not what can be used). It will bolt right onto an early style fan clutch so long as it is a 4 bolt fan fan clutch(some early ones used 6 bolts to atatch the fan blade to the clutch). The fan blade I ran on my 6.5 with a bolt on fan clutch is the same fan blade I am now using on my DURAMAX with a spin on fan clutch.

Thanks!

I just ordered it...I'll post up the results if anyone is interested. The only time my truck heats up is when I pull my enclosed 18ft trailer. I am going to start with this only & while i have it apart verify the stack is still clean.

FERM your talking about the LB7 Blade (4 Bolt hole) that cannot be attached to the 6 Bolt clutch.....Correct?

The old 6 Blade fan was replaced with a Hybrid blade of sorts, that was a 20" (I think, I'm not positive on the size) White composite/plastic (Non D Max) blade that attached to the early 6 Bolt hole clutch with the (Discontinued) steel, 6 blade fan.

I saw it with my own eyes, it was clearly NOT as big as the D Max blade in size and fins......What stood out about it is that it was clear/white plastic with a 6 bolt hole pattern to fit the early clutch. A friend of mine had it on his 96 Suburban that he repaired back together (Busted crank) with everything OEM from the original (Low flow) 80 gpm WP, original single T-Stat, original early 6 bolt hole OEM fan clutch and this was the OEM "replacement" Fan Blade that he bought from the dealer (the OEM 6 blade steel fan was discontinued)

There is a white 10-blade 20" "severe duty" that SSDS sells. With more blade pitch and surface area. From the pictures of it, looks to be a 4-bolt interface as well. There could be a 6-bolt variation.

So no luck for me... I have the 6 bolt fan on my clutch.

I have zero problems with my stock setup for daily driving, I just want the DMax fan so my AC runs colder at stop lights (figuring more air passing would increase the cooling?)

I always want to hit the cheap button... which often differs from the easy button I have learned.

Since the DMax fan is composite/plastic, you can drill it out to fit the 6-bolt. But if the clutch is original, its probably lost a lot of its traction so that it wont engage as much when it does. So a new fan and clutch might be a good idea, even if its just a stock 97-98 clutch to fit on the 4-bolt water pump to clutch interface.

Today is your lucky day Mike, Press the cheap button Brother.........and Thank Dave (Pruittx2)

Yea, thats the Blade.......Maybe he did change the clutch, but I can almost swear he used his old pump and clutch along with his single Stat setup and the rest of his accesories......He's a believer in STOCK and OEM parts only.

So what are you supossed to do when the 6 blade/bolt fan is discontinued.....Whats the Dealer supposed to sell you?

Who knows?

My DMAX fan blade came from SS diesel years back, and is black. Haven;t ever seen a white one, but it sounds like teh fan blade that came stock on the VORTEC engine as it was a plastic 10 blade and was 20" I believe.

I just ordered the clutch and fan off amazon. I am so looking forward to having the AC cranking at the stoplights.

So much that I even coughed up the money for the fan blade AND the clutch... being a good boy.

I have a Heath Dmax fan and HD clutch. The AC blow much cooler and the engine cools down quicker when it gets hot.

I am pretty sure the temperature gauge is totally wrong so I don't know for sure what it is actually running until I get some after market gauges.
