Hi All,

First i would like to say thank you to all of you that have helped me by replying to me in the past. I really do thank you. I also thank Bill Heath for talking to me.

I am currently experiencing problems with my 6.5l. It just decides to die at very inopportune moments. In the middle of slow moving traffic, at a stop light or sign, in the middle of an intersection, etc. I think it must be the OPS cause i have a heath PMD kit and it is mounted to the plastic skid plate.
However, why didnt GM offer something like an error code from the OBDII to show that your lift pump stopped pumping? or if you lost ground, or if tank has too much vacuum? or if the OPS quit providing +12vdc to the lift pump. There are countless things they could have at least monitored with the OBDII that would have been fairly simple. I mean i have read enough times that it is very hard on the injector pump to not have fuel going to it, you would think they would have protected this better.
For instance in reading many posts, the PMD is usually the automatic answer for stalling and dying, which my truck is doing(EXTREMELY ANNOYING). It would be nice to clearly define a bad pmd or a bad OPS. From what i have read the symptoms would be the same.
I am going to try to start a thread called KNOWN FIXES. I am going to take pictures of what i did. As they say, pictures are worth a thousand words. It would be cool to make it a sticky.
Again thank you to all on this website. Tomorrow i am going to rig up a toggle switch to my lift pump. I think the OPS might be bad. It is very hard when you are alone on the side of the road to determine if the lift pump is running. Also, your glow plugs will not fire if the engine is HOT. Once i get them to fire, the truck will start right up.
Again thank you all for the help you have provided. When you type in replies, they are read, i have been pretty bad about replying back. I am sorry for that.

Bean counters said:it would cost too much. If it's too reliable, service dept. and part dept would go broke. Too reliable also hurts new truck sales. Their many stupid decisions has put them where they are now. Belly-up.

probably not OPS, OBD-II (96+ years) has 2 power sources, PCM & OPS have to lose both of them same time to be a problem, also a dead lift should not shut you down as IP has capability to pull it's own fuel with no lift just runs at reduced power, have a look at this thread http://www.dieseltowingresource.com/showthread.php?t=2496 for some testing tips for lift pump.

gnds & ignition switch are probable, call Bill back again they have a voltage check process for volts to FSD to help rule out ign switch, also apply 12V to the shutdown solenoid to make shure it is solidly opening, those have been known to fail on occasion
