Who's using a truck cap/topper? What do you do about "fogging"?

So, you have a truck cap on the bed of your truck?

Got any problems with it fogging up in rain/wet weather/carrying dogs?

I know when I put the dogs in the back, it foggs up right away in rainy weather.

I was thinking of putting a source of heat back there. Probably like and interior heater that would blow warm air on the the rear window. A side bonus is that it would make the bed a bit more comfortable for the dogs in winter.

I thought about using some of the "anti fog" chemicals, but they're never really worked very well for me before.

I've also considered some kind of "venting" scheme to draw the air out while moving.

Whatever I go with, it will have to fit on the cap structure. I'm looking for it to lift clean when I remove the cap so I can haul dirt, peat, gravel, or what ever when I need to.

Wiring is not a problem for me, I'm pretty experienced at it (check my truck's thread if you want to see my work). Maybe I'll rig up a heater with a blower and some ducting attached to the cap to distribute the heat to all the windows in the cap.

The bed will eventually get a complete bed rug kit (easy to take out if I need to haul dirt) and a liner in the cap.

Anyone have another ideas besides "live with it"?

Actually, I'm kind of liking the blower and ducting idea. Especially controlling it from the cab. Little bit o' fiberglassing, little bit o' electrical work......

Drawing up my machiavellian plans in my head now.....;)

Yes, it's an issue. It's the perfect environment for condensation.

You don't have sliding windows on the topper? I always (unless it's raining hard and something in the back can't get wet) leave the front window and side windows open a crack to keep airflow going. With the dog in the back I open them more.

I do that as well (when I can).

Only problem is it start raining here around sep/oct and pretty much doesn't stop until april/may. Almost every vehicle here (car or truck) has vent visors for this very reason.

Even when I can open the windows it has limited effectiveness. Humidity is usually in the stupid range here most of the time. Once the windows are fogged, your pretty much have to wipe them down or hope the sun will at least crack through the cloud cover for an d hour or so.

Damn pacific "rain forest".......
