Ok so at least my drivers side engine mount is severely worn or broken. I don't get fan chaffing or any banging, so I guess it doesn't move much, but it's noticeable if you brake and throttle it.

Anyways, I bought 2 engine mounts over a year ago, one from the dealer, and the other from aftermarket. I thought I was going to do the job right away, but I didn't realize how much a PITA it was going to be, or how expensive it was to get done. So it didn't get done. I also didn't follow up with the dealer to get that second mount from them, and take back the after market one. So a week turned into over a year and now I can't remember which one came from the dealer and which was after market!!! I have a hunch, but before I say, I wanted to put this out there see what ya all think.

Also the one with the surface rust wasn't in a box, and was just on the garage floor. The non rusty one was in a box. Both were bought around the same time.

Thanks for any ideas!

Just for the hell of it I'm gonna guess the one on the right is because it involved a much more intricate die to form and it's got flange stiffener gussets formed into it.

Alright cool, but what makes you think it used a more intricate die? Also what are gussets? lol

thanks dude

There are more facets on the stamping (umm... defined lines that conform to the die). Gussets are angular braces like you see on the side flange.

Ok thanks, I now see what you're saying...interesting...but what about the size of the rubber on the inside?? The one on the right(non rusty) does seem to have a smaller rubber mass

That's just a function of how the mold was made when the rubber was poured. It was probably an automated operation so it would require a thicker wall mold for longer mold life as opposed to a sheetmetel mold that was part of a (semi) hand made operation.

The 2 mounts pictured are gasser 2 wheel drive mounts, not diesel 4X4 mounts. 2X4 trucks use a flat mount where both mounting points are on the bottom, and 4X4's use one where one is at the bottom and the other is at the top. Also the diesel mounts should be painted black, and they don't have but about a 3/16" gap in between the rubber and the clamshell housing. Gasser mounts have a 1/4"-3/8" gap there.

**** are you sure?!?! That ties into this thread I have going on http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/sh...t-flange-ones-the-dealer-keeps-trying-to-give

Shit...I just tried to take another look...I think you might be right

4X4 mounts have the offset mounts where as 2X4 mounts are flat. And the diesel mounts that I have gotten from GM have been black with a big canadian emblem sticker on em.

Damnit, dealer gave me the wrong part to begin with, then I sat with it way too long to return! I wonder if they'll let me exchange

Thanks for clearing that up for me Thefer, even tho I didn't enjoy hearing it:mad2:

This is the 4 wheel drive motor mount with a energy suspension polyurethane insert. I prefer them over the loose fitting rubber mounts because they cant twist and jam in the clamshell.

Sorry bit late to the party but I happen to have a pair of GM 4x4 mounts under my desk, I keep putting off installing them.:) According to mine stamping wise etc the one on the left (rusty) looks GM, kind of immaterial though as yours are not offset.

My part number is 15659675 and like Fermanator says 'sprayed black with Made in Canada on it and the rubber. I also have pink paint on one side of them.

I can take pics if you like

Cheers
Nobby

THEFERMANATOR got it spot on - black paint. My GM also had the GM shipping sort label on them so almost sticker covered.
