hey guys,

We are done with KS harvest, and are getting rounded up to go to Idaho. got to get out there by next weekend. mother + family reunion+ my or old mans new headstone if we dont get her there. :)

I am taking the 93 K2500 this year, and it needs injectors, and GPs, and timing gears, etc. basically all OEM equipment at a 1/4 of million miles. PO treated it well, but things dont last forever, so it is replacement time.

I had picked up some "pulled out of running rig, ran great when pulled" injectors from e-bay and DP. luckily around 30-40 bucks with a little shipping in each set. they all shot craps. one from each set looked fair-good on spray. the rest were fair, fair-poor, and poor. :( so no used injectors going in.

so I ask you folks, where is the place and brand to buy these days?

I am shopping on e-bay.

and here are teds: EBAY item number 221045153023 I assume usa made they are Delphi? never heard of true GM injectors.

this guy: got questions messaged to him for brand, who rebuilt, etc. EBAY item number 251095930026 Accurate diesel, Stanadynes out of italy. message off to find out GP mfg.
EBAY item number 220921360693
so, who would you go with? once they are in, they are likely to not come out. So I need good ones! I have too many trucks to go hog wild on performance, so "enhanced stock is what I am after. basically 200 HP/400-450TQ flywheel. :)

any input is greatly appreciated, I am not going to buy the spendy heath or Kennedy units. I am sure they are great, but I am a bargain hunter (hence owning a 6.5L in the first place! :) )

thanks!

Staff edit, removed ebay links as per site rules as they conflicted with a site vendor.

since it looks like you can pop test them I'd buy new nozzles and rebuild them. only real way to know what you got

i agree, if you have bosch injectors its worth it to rebuild them

im just about to buy new injectors but im keeping my originals so i can have them rebuilt for future use

i figure i will then have 2 sets to swap between

Is there a local diesel shop near you?

Like Les said, rebuild yourself or have a local guy rebuild and pop em......Chances are, he/you can get some Bosch nozzels and (if you don't have/build a pop tester,) you'd have to go to have them tested anyway. A day or 2 and your up and running again.

You can go full out and do all 8, or do 1 side at a time.......Over the course of a few days.

Just something to think about brother....

I havent checked, but there is a decent engine shop nearby. I assume they can do it.

the pop tester dad has is a Buda unit. seemed to do fine, but the guage was faily coarse on the dial, so the 2075 pop pressure is un-readable. :)

where does everyone get there nozzles? what about shims? I am in a hurry, so I think I will just save the old ones and rebuild later. I would prefer to do it myself, but I am out of time.

finally, when I do rebuild my own, what is the magic PSI? I am after durability, longevity (of motor, and all fueling components. no IP killing PSI), accuracy, fuel economy, power. in order from most to least important. if that factors into the PSI

I assume new ones will have great spray patterns no matter what, but inconsistent pop pressures?

Ted's seems to be a good deal. His 100% positive feedback should talk for him.

Tim as accurate is a very trustable seller. I have never been disappointed with any stuff i bought him. Very professional.
He can supply you with Bosch, new or reman.

Bill Heath would tell you to stay away fro Stanadyne injectors. You can get fresh rebuilt or new Bosch from him

I would consider Heath Bosch rebuilds.......$$$......But you would get a "quality product, Popped and all."

Tim is "OK" also, but.......

And any Delco or Stanadyne is 99% gonna be India.......and NO clue on POP pressures.

I think 2150 or 2200 PSI is about the norm.....Leaves a little room to soften up.

JMO and I don't know crap!

doesone have to call heath to get the rebuilt ones? the only rebuilt ones I saw on the site were for 6.2L, maybe I wasnt looking hard enough though. I take it heath rebuilds them in house, and sets the pop pressures really close?

the "Gm" ones being sold by ted are claimed to be usa built. I take it these might be some old delcos or delphis? I am aware current production is overseas.

as far as rebuilds, there are nozzles on rockauto. I take it nozzles are all you need? do any of the guts wear out? does the nozzle come with the pintle, or anything besides just the nozzle?

message from accurate: Hi,

Installation kit - Dipaco
Glow Plugs, DieselRx

Thanks

has anyone played with the DieselRx plugs? I am sure the diapco install kit is fine.

the other guy: i got them out of texas dont remember any thing else i do know my brotherinlaw and a couple friends have the sameones and there doing great
yep, too vague. probably gonna pass.

teds: These injectors are military rebuilds, not sure of the specifications on the pop testing. Don't know if our mechanic will know I will check with him on Thursday!
Have a great Independence Day,

will see how these turn out.

I have a shop that rebuilds yours, will exchange, will set pop pressure to anything you want. priced includes shipping, Bosch Nozzles, and a guaranteed product. PM me

I thought Heath sold Stanadyne injectors, thats why they are like $500. Since Stanadyne has a nozzle manufacturing plant in Italy I would expect they make them there. I would also expect Stanadyne to care more about it than Bosch, since Stanadyne makes the IPs.

I always recommend rebuilt though so you know its set right with tight tolerance, with 2300psi pop on any truck running 15-20psi of boost. At least 2200psi otherwise for turbo truck, max of 2500psi.

If the seller doesnt rebuild them and ensure the spray and pop settings themselves, then I wouldn't buy them. I am guessing Accurate will even set them however you like for a small charge, since they offer pop testing and setting as a service.

will keep you in mind Slim!

I take it one can specify if they want their own set rebuilt, rather than returning theirs in exchange for a rebuilt set?
