Went wheelin at Wind Rock/Coal Creek on Friday. This was my first trip on the Honda Rincon. We did 70 miles on very moderate trails in the old coal mining area. We were in the clouds/mist in the morning and dust in the afternoon. There must be hundreds of miles of trails in this area. The gas and oil drilling folks are cutting new roads all over those mountains. Some of the trails are being crisscrossed by the driller's gravel roads. We are going to Royal Blue in a few weeks/days. It is a wild life managed area and a little more difficult riding. This area is 20-30 miles west of Knoxville in the Cumberland Mountains and is just north of where we rode Friday. Brought back the thrill of bike trail riding of 30 or so years ago without the spills. The two guys with me are very experienced 4 wheelers and took it easy on me.

Didn't take the camera. It was so cloudy/foggy when we were on top of a mountain that you couldn't see the valley below. It was a recovered strip mined area that would have made a good airport. TVA has a wind mill farm on another mountain that we visited. Cleaned the 4 wheeler up before wife got home. I will take her as a passanger (with camera) to that area on a pretty day after we get the hay in the barn.

Tuckaleechee , They say the Hatfield trails are fun to ride. Have you ever rode Buffalo Mountain near Jonesborough?

BIGR, No I haven't ridden much at all on the 4-wheeler. Can you give me more information about the Buffalo Mt. trails. I went to school at ETSU in the mid sixties. That wouldn't be too far for us to get to. The guys that I rode with at Wind Rock were talking about going to WV in the Fall. The way they talked, they have been wanting to go up there for several years. They don't like to ride in the Summer due to the dust.
