My buddy that im buying the 94 Sierra from also has a 97 Chevy C3500 HD with the 6.5 Turbo Diesel and NV4500 transmission. The engine was replaced in 05 with a brand new one. Around the same time this truck may have had a different turbo installed other then the original. He seems to recall it is a Holset thats in this truck and if im not mistaken the 3500HDs had the same turbos as the rest of the trucks which was the GM3 or something like that? Just trying to determine if this truck has had an optimizer dropped in or not. If so where would the navistar marking be on it?

Under the injection pump and would look like this...

You can see the "N W" in the valley followed by the International logo and on the front of the head under the valve cover would be the International logo..

So there is an international logo in the valley and one under one of the valve covers? Just making sure i understand correctly. Also what year did they start with them wasnt it around 01 or 02?

I think it was about 01-02, the problem is there were still a lot of GM blocks still in the system being put in as replacements.

So it could be either an Optimizer or a late GM block that could have been used. Well like i said this truck had its motor replaced in 05 and from what i understand the new engine was like 10K lol I will print off that pic that was posted earlier and give it to my buddy tomorrow so he knows what to spot for when he does his mechanical pump conversion.
