Hi Guys,

I'm swapping out the power steering fluid in the 'burb and Tahoe. The owners manual says that I am to use "GM Power Steering Fluid", and gives a couple of part numbers.

Is there something special about the GM fluid? I assumed that Dextron II would be specified.

What should I use?

I just use any old powers steering fluid. I know alot of guys who use trans fliud but to me they make power steering fluid for a reason, right? ;)

I use PS fluid. Some use ATF but the GM fluid spec is PS fluid.

The Valvoline SynPower is good but they don't sell it anymore. There is a Maxlife version of Valvoline.

I just checked my service manual. It says -

GM Power Steering Fluid (GM Part Number 1052884 - 1 pint, 1050017 - 1 quart, or equivalent)

Thanks guys. I think I will go with this:

NAPA Power Steering Fluid - meets GM Spec 9985010

About $11 bucks at NAPA.
