Put the 6.5 back in after about a year of it sitting in the shop. I have 5 or 6 OBDI PCM's around here. I think I have the PCM that came in it but cant be sure. I know 94 had two IPs and needs the correct/maching PCM/chip. How can I confirm whats what?

What would the symtoms be running the wrong PCM? I have a bunch of codes!! Not sure if its from sitting (dought it) or probably just have the wrong PCM.
BTW its all stock as far as IP and PCM go (no aftermarket yet).

Leroy,

AFAIK, running the wrong PCM can make you experiencing no start, or start and die immediately. Sometimes you can have the truck running almost fine, having small minor issues such as glow light not coming on.
Might interfere also on the trans, making it loosing 3rd and OD.

Will an OBDI scanner read the VIN # stored in the PCM?
If so, plug in the pcm, plug in the scanner, key on, read the vin# and then you'll know if you got the right one in there.
If the OBD-1 won't read VINs, forget I said anything.

You can run any 94 or 95 ECM, but you do need to get the right PROM chip in it for the application. I don't have the interchange chart in front of me right now, but if you post the 4 digit code on the PROM chip itself I can try and look it up for you.

Interesting, I think it was not going into 4th and OD for along time then out of nowhere it would up shift and at the same time the SES light comes on.

Good idea I'll see if that works, thanks.

Leroy the prom in my 5068 PCM is BMSD
Thanks, I'll check mine latter.

Ill check it latter and report back. Thanks.

In the middle of working on it now Very hard to see, but looks like my pump is a 5521.

Fixin to see what chip is in it, will let ya'll know shortly.

prom chip # BMSD is in the PCM that I think came on the burb.
Can you tell anything from that?

The BPAA should work nicely. That's a 95 3500 RPOM.

Thanks, I'd still have to get the 94 prom for BPAA right? I have two BPAA's, but the funny thing is I bought them as spares and know they are for a 95, so that leaves me with two choices the BPBN or BXRL. One of those came in my 94. Do you see what the BPBN and BXRL belong in?
Is the chart your looking at online somewhere? Could you post it? (chart should go in stickies IMO)

Thanks Ferm

Put the 95 BPAA in it. The 94 and 95's can interchange chips without issue so long as it is for the same basic application. Try it out and see, but I imagine you will like it.

OK was having a problem with the scan tool, I had a setting wrong.

So I used the BPAA and it would throw DTC 18 and 54. DTC 54 is supposed to be a bad PCM so I put the BXRL in and it cleared those codes, but now I get DTC 15 for ECT low fault. I went though the pin out on the PCM plug and am getting the signal all the way to the PCM. I think this PCM may be bad also?
That brings me to my next question. Can I just swap the PROM into another PCM without doing anything else? I think I read you must do TDCO again? Anything else to watch out for?
I have another BPAA I can try.

You will most likely need a TECH 1, TECH 2, or some other way to set the TDC offset, but yes you can swap in any other 6.5 ECM.

Well I had a brand new ECT sensor on. I was checking for continuity from the connector to the PCM plug. I spent hours tracing what the problem was. It turned out it was the new ECT sensor. Truck runs so much better now. And no codes!!

Another problem though, I have a pretty good vibration that starts at 1500rpm. Im thinking tourqe converter or harmonic balancer. Cheked the HB and it "looks" good. I have the TC cover off and inspected flywheel...ect all is tight and normal looking. Watched it with engine a idel again and again it looks good.
Ferm is there anything inside the TC that could get out of ballance? It does look like a cheap rebuild one, but it worked fine with this engine before the Isuzu engine and with the Isuzu engine. Something has changed since reinstalling the 6.5??
I hate vibrations!!

I guess I throw the Fluid Damper on there first (its easier) if that wont fix it I'll have to pull the TC.
I was just talking to my brother today about you relating to him needing a TC for his 4L80E. Now it looks like I may need one. I know you were highly recomending one, but cant remember the specs/price...ect on them, all I remember was a billet something about it. Could you refresh me.

Thanks
