What is wrong with this picture?

Yes the #8 piston has some melting damage. :rolleyes5:

What else?

The oil pan is still on at this point of the tear down.

2 pistons at tdc and no. 8 is turned a bit. My guess is broken rod.

Bingo! I think it's only the exhaust valves that're supposed to rotate. :hihi:

Also, what's going on with the head bolt hole between #6 and #8, near the water passage? Looks like some kind of weird insert??

Yes, 2 at TDC. Rod is only bent though.

Rod is bent and looks like it may have been caused by a crack in the block.
