This connector goes to the back up lights switch on the transmission.

It doesn't look like a GM weather pack as the tower piece usually has the metal female socket for actual wiring connector even though the tower to me seams male. This one the tower is male and has male pins ????

Its for a 1997 is it a different series of connector? Where to find? Dealer looks like?

one of the locally owned napas near me used to have a pretty good selection of stuff. they have since been bought out and don't have much. I'd visit one of the privately owned auto parts stores and see if they have anything

It does look like weather pack at least the plastic parts. And it may be weather pack but the terminal ends look backwards. Also the male pins look blunter and larger diameter.

From reading there is no set way to install terminal ends on butt connectors and you can swap orientation but I would expect GM to keep a convention on orientation throughout. Uh an assumption isn't much to stand on.

I stopped at one Napa and no go. Yeah, I agree privately owned auto parts franchises with real inventory are much better but the numbers are dwindling. We lost an older big CARQUEST and I am still sad.

IIRC this type of connector is used at the rear tail light harness on the early 90's GM trucks also. 4 or 5 pin. And again IIRC they were 'backwards' as you described.

It was a weather pack. At least once apart it looked the same just reverse orientation of the pins to what is on the net. Bad assumption. I can make an ass of myself and GM likes to help.

The picture was bad and the pins weren't a different size.

A locally owned more commercial CARQUEST 40 min away had a small selection of them and the Leslie tool to take pins out.

Common Ebay pictures show pins like this....
