I am going to get a new set of lifters for my build up, my GEP motor looked new inside when I took it apart, BUT I forgot to label each lifter as to the hole it came from so I really don't want to use them again not knowing for sure what hole they came out of.

What is a good brand of lifter, and a good place to purchase them from, and is there a brand NOT to get??

Thanks

Chris

If they are new they don't care, but mine are used, and they should go back on the same cam lobe to be safe ---- at least that is how I was raised to do it.?????

Roller lifters don't care which hole. The only thing i'd be careful about is to put the pushrods back in the same holes they came from and the rocker shafts in the same spots. Just an FYI the copper colored end of the pushrod must face the rocker arm.

I've swapped many lifters around and used some from different engines in my K-5 to try and solve my lifter tick without having to rip the heads off, which will eventually be done to put in better HGs and studs so all 16 lifters and pushrods will be replaced then.

Just check the rollers on the lifters to make sure they are smooth. Best way to check them is to run the lifter's roller down the inside of your forearm. This way you can feel for any binding or rough spots in the roller's bearings or on the surface of the roller itself.

Flat tappet lifters are mated to that particular cam lobe once used due to the way the lobe and the lifter wear together.

Well, I also didn't mark either the lifter or the push rod as to where they came from, the motor, pistons and everything else didn't even look broke in yet, it looked new, the cam doesn't even have any roller marks on it, I was just brought up that you never reuse parts that aren't going in the same place is all. I think this motor is new enough to reuse te lifters after they are cleaned good, and I am going to "dry film" coat the cam and lifters while they are out so that will help.

I just wanted others input in this matter before I went and spent 200$ , I am already spending big bucks and I don't want to cut any corners at this point.

The GEP I got didn't even have a black film anywhere on the inside, I don't think it had many hours on it.....
