I have a terrible oil leak at high RPMs, I lose all my oil on highway trips, but it doesnt seem to do it when im driving around town. the oil will pool on and around the drivers side valve cover. basically on the hwy i have a trail of smoke behind my truck from when it falls on the cross over pipes, and i lose every last drop of iol in the truck. Can anyone help? My mechanic cant find the leak, and its been going on now the better part of 2 yrs. W/B PLEASE!!!

Do you know if the CDR (PCV) is working? Do you get a lot of blow by, vapors gushing out of your oil fill tube when the engine is warm?

I'm just thinking maybe youre getting a great pressure build up in the valve cover at high rpm that is opening a valve cover gasket tear or something.

Check around where the oil fill tube installs.

maybe you should get an other mechanic?

x2. Oil leaks, Get some GUNK or a powerwasher and clean the entire engine. Drive it and look for highest point of the leak. If it's leaking as bad as you describe it should not be difficult to find. Oil Cooler lines are notorious for leaking badly and can actually pop off causing sudden loss of oil pressure.

x 2 on the gunk.. even brake or carb cleaner, clean it nicely, take it for a 10 min drive, open the hood and look for it

one thing to keep in mind.. even though its pooling on that side, it might not be coming from that immediate area, it might be draining from a higher point.. i found my similiar oil leak coming from the front of the valve cover, the inside lip was crushed downward by the previous owner overtightening the bolts and bending it, and crushing the gasket, but my oil leak was coming from the BACK of the block and dripping by the oil filter.. go figure..

taken from your description, it sounds like its pissing it out rather quickly, i think if you sit in your driveway and have someone hold the throttle at about 2k it might start showing where its coming from
