Well it all started with making more noise on Bio diesel, then to making more noise, then to throwing a couple of codes 370 and 251.
Would clear them and it would work for a bit then have a fit again, then it started to take longer and longer to pressure up on fuel cycle, sooo, changed lift pump, worked for a bit then back to codes and long cycles then hard starts when warm would start good cold once fuel pressure was up. But warm starts would take a bit of extra cranking and codes as soon as it stated.
So last weekend i did the injector nozzles because I figured they were due anyway and I thought I had a return line leak, not so the PO had said he had removed an injector to check for something when it started to miss (bad exhaust valve) but he must not have had an injector wrench and used a cresent or something because one injector was a massive leak, so just did the nozzles while it had to come out anyway. Thought they were original but had seven french and one german nozzle and one washer was in wrong. No pop test but got to be better than a leaky system.
And once again worked for a bit then back to the hard warm start and codes. Sigh!
Found a rebuilt IP and spent this weekend in between the rain getting it in, got it in and going seems to be running well may be a bit fast n timing maybe tried to put it back in the same place, but will have to get something to read it just have a code reader not good for much else.
But power is better, throttle smoother on lower end and best of all reader says all is well,
So hope it will keep going now seems to be good. Less hard knock now.
What I did this weekend and my experience with knocky noise with bio

In my experience, codes 0370 and 0251 are fuel related. I had a batch of fuel screw me with those codes for a couple of tanks until I got it all cleaned out. Code free for 2 years now. Could be a clouded optic. If you run the same fuel in the new IP, I think you are headed for the same problem.

Ah! Wondered about that earlier, ran, cleaner and the like through it, and it all helped for a bit and went back to codes, so hope it stays if not the bloody thing will get a mechanical unit, got one on the shelf just have to get connection to the foot!:rolleyes5:

I want to think air can cause them too. I get those codes when I run out of fuel, truck hiccups, throws those codes, and goes into limpmode. Thats when I know I need fuel NOW! (I have a xfer tank in the bed so I just pump some in).

I learned it really well while diagnosing my fuel tanks, and fuel gauges.

Yes, Have heard that also did not run it out of fuel, have an aversion to that little thing :nonod:
Think I will still pull the tank it still takes a bit to pump up the pressure some times, it seems like.
But I think the injector pump was maybe not dieing bad but trying to die, went through the entire check list on the gm manual all the connectors all the lines and the last check was if the prior check of ecm wire was good, you get to replace pump and I did everything I could to keep from it but kept getting back to the beasty,so bit the bullet and did the deed, seems good so far will see
